Hopefully the SANFL can still find a way to milk some coin off them. Needs to be adequate compensation

Don't know what they have in mind for SANFL, that is clear as mud right now. Would hope their interests are not being overridden.

My mail is that getting the SANFL to agree to all this is going to be very difficult, Crows getting these plans out there without any agreement with the current long term lease holders is to put some pressure on IMO

I think they are reporting 8.5m from Crows to SANFL to transfer the lease (down from 11m initially requested by SANFL).

Residents in Adelaide's western suburbs are pleading for more transparency over plans to build Adelaide Football Club's new headquarters at Thebarton Oval.

The Adelaide Crows announced last month that it wanted to turn the Torrensville site, along with part of Kings Reserve, into its new home.

The City of West Torrens is holding a community meeting about leasing 9.1 hectares of land to the club for the project tomorrow night.

Much of the rest of Kings Reserve is expected to be consumed in the upgrade of South Road into a non-stop motorway, with the Thebarton Community Centre to be demolished.

The Crows had already begun negotiations with the City of West Torrens about the lease before their proposal was announced.

The SANFL currently leases Thebarton Oval from the council.

Under the Crows' proposal, Thebarton Oval and a new oval on Kings Reserve would be open to the public at certain times, rather than the current situation where Thebarton Oval is fully-fenced while Kings Reserve is open.

Local resident Sue Marks is among a group of residents who say the council should have consulted with the community before negotiations began.

"We haven't been told what the plan is, what the Crows are going to have and we've slowly gained some information," she said.

"It seems that there is the oval itself, plus there is Kings Reserve, which is the only piece of green space in the western area."

Residents plan to protest outside a City of West Torrens council meeting tonight, and several delegates are expected to speak at the meeting.

The council has been contacted for comment.

Mayor Michael Coxon, who was recently re-elected unopposed, declined to comment.

According to the council's website, the Crows would have to pay about $4 million to use the site (including rent and rates) over 42 years, plus yearly increases for inflation.

Only about $200,000 of this would be paid in the first 10 years of the lease.

Consultation closes on October 14.

The club will also separately have to seek development approval for its proposal.

Its previous bid to move from West Lakes to the Brompton Gasworks site failed in January, with a Melbourne company picked to develop the site.

The Crows also proposed redeveloping the Adelaide Aquatic Centre site in North Adelaide, but pulled out of the plans in 2020.

A pretty good forward line and I’d guess the next thing they will attempt to build is their ordinary midfield but at least they are on the right track

Adelaide offered three first-round picks for the No.1 pick last year to take Jason Horne-Francis.

The Crows have ended up using those picks on Josh Rachele (No.6 in 2021), Jordan Dawson (a future first-rounder in 2021) and Izak Rankine (No.5 in 2022).

Question marks looks an absolute gem. Port need to find a way to prise him away from West Thebarton Lakes.

Good start to the negotiations, Brod, but speaking to some members of the North Melbourne/West Coast Big Footy boards, that is severe unders.
