I remember trying to drown a Goody Saints player there one day
Held his face down in the muddy water for a while
He was actually a mate - when he came up his whole face was mud other than his eyes

1986 was my first year of senior footy at Brighton High Old Scholars in A4. It rained almost non stop from Round 13 to Round 15 that year and most grounds were atrocious. Played at Col Waite v Burnside Kensington on one of those rounds and the whole oval was mud. The kind folk at CLG allowed us to train one night a week at Mortlock from about R15 through to Grand Final week because our Mawson High ground never recovered.

What a ground. East West not North South but on some days you need to win the toss and kick with the tide.

I had the mud completely suck my boot off my foot at Campbelltown Oval one semi final day, we won with a score of under 20.

Congratulations to Greenacres on a well played, hard fought win in the Grand Final. After so many years of going in the opposite direction, there seems to be plenty of fire in The Dragons. An unbeaten year deserves special mention as it is not that common.

To those who have stuck by them through the very lean years - well done - you know who you are and never seek the limelight.

Hoping the coming years brings further success!

Hackham should be well situated to make a significant improvement next season. Houghton will deservedly head into the season as heavy favourites following recent good minor round seasons.

Para Hills are making plenty of noise down Bridge Road on their drop to D7, whilst Mitchell Park have picked up the experienced Kamenic to lead them back to greener pastures.

Flinders Uni continue to threaten to be a quality outfity, OSB / Lonsdale fell away sharply last season and definitely underachieved with their list whilst Mawson Lakes will be eager to add a few more wins to their bank.

Ingle Farm jammed between a hungry Para Hills and Mawson Lakes eager to recruit hard and move up, and a stones throw from the recently successful Pooraka with views to D4 success makes for a difficult predicament.

More like a Bermuda Triangle shape where footballers go to disappear. 8)

It's quite a challenging region for footy clubs full stop.

Take Salisbury for instance, here is a list of clubs off the top of my head within 13kms of them.

Eastern Park
Elizabeth
Central United
Brahma Lodge
Golden Grove
Tea Tree Gully
Modbury
Salisbury North
Salisbury West*
North Pines*
Mawson Lakes
Para Hills
Ingle Farm
Pooraka
Gepps Cross
Kilburn

The same radius for Ingle Farm is probably worse come to think of it.

Good call we definitely under achieved.

Our top end talent was very good but depth is still below average. Extremely Poor finish to season.

Not sure who is coaching but if they can get the players to buy in and get out on the track I expect a big improvement. Adam Rigney returning from injury next year will be huge he has been sorely missed.
