Wicket renos are going to be severely messed up because of the weather.
Getting dry soil is also going to be difficult.
Let's hope it fines up next week.

We've managed to get 8 out of our 9 squares done so far, just Port Districts lef to go due to footy still going. We have plenty of dry black soil, we stock up at the end of season and store undercover year round

Peats Soil store Black soil undercover now so it’s not very difficult to get your hands on.

Footy finishes tomorrow night for us.
Hopefully it dries out over the weekend.
Apparently going to be a wet summer again.
Covers Thursday and Friday like last season, oh joy!!!

Michael Renfrey from TTG to Hope Valley CC.

Good bat and nice off spin option for the demons.

Any other news around the grounds?

Cheers,

How do you reckon he'll go in A1?

Judging by his stats from last season, A1 could be a bit of a jump for him, but off-spin tends to have a decent record in this competition so we'll see how he goes.

Will be interesting to say the least. Was jumbled around at ttg with 3s, 4s and not being picked in round 1 last season.

Maybe getting away to a new team and ground might do him a world of confidence. Will he be up for the challenge of what round 1 has in store?

What are we all thinking lads, is this a good pick up for the demons or should they have spent their money elsewhere?

Cheers

Anyone coming from Grade Cricket is a good pick up imo, particularly an allrounder which is good for depth. Surely they didn't spend much money luring him over...
Some of the $$$ clubs are throwing around is ridiculous.

Couldnt agree more Harry. Thinking it could be his year to show everyone what ttg have missed out on. Not sure about $$ but he would be worth it in the long term I think, could be a 5-10 year player for them

What do Green Options charge??

A season with TK is likely to cost us between $30,000 - $35,000. That's for 2 ovals and a couple of practice nets.

I only use him for spring renovations for our 2 grounds then prep them myself during the season.

We found them very reasonable but Boxy the owner is always happy to work with clubs for what suits best

I could only suggest your ring and speak to Michael Box about it mate.

Hearing whispers that Ayden McGregor-Baptitsa heading to golden grove cc to play with good golf friends Mattew Herdman and Dylan Holliday.

If true, this would be a great pick up in a time of need for the grove to push for that flag where they missed last year.

If true, not sure he'd play a lot of games.

Main reason he couldn't play last year was shift work (and golf).

Sounds like local rivals Brahma are trying their best to push the budget on the spending spree at grove. They’ve announced signings this week in Ben Pye (TTG) 5k+ and Josh Lamerton (modbury).
Ridiculous money for A3 clubs to spend both grove and Brahma

We had spoken to both players at Para Hills, but A1 wasn't something that seemed to interest either player a great deal, all the best to them though, certainly adds to the A3 comp rather than Golden Grove being clearly heads and shoulders above the rest.

In hindsight we clearly wouldn't of been able to afford Pye if that's the sort of money rumoured, but he had gone to Prospect the last I heard.

I believe Lamerton was happy to join some former Modbury players at Brahma, seemed a really good kid and truly wish him all the best, he should do plenty in A3.

Presumably still in A2? Unless you’ve heard otherwise. Had seen captain - Wood and opening bowler - Lamerton have left, been struggling to field a b grade for a couple of years from memory. I think Modbury forfeiting in B1 caused the bye last year.

Seems they may be considering withdrawing from A2 now. I think part of the issue is finding blokes who want to lay 2 day cricket, never good to see a club struggling like that.
