SPP, Jones and McEntee have been deployed there, more for defensive pressure and the goal reward is on the back of that pressure.

With Amon gone Farrell, who had played high half forward, might be needed more across half back / wing.

Obviously we'd rather not take Rozee and Butters out of the midfield.

I just hope we pay f*** all for him as I don't see him in our best 25.

I think LM is referring to the price paid in the trade, which I agree with him about.

Paying up a third rounder would be ideal, but that won't get it done, so it will probably be the compensation pick for Amon ( likely end of 1st round ) that will be the deal, maybe some late swaps.

As for salary, that is, in some ways, a moot point. You have to pay players, you have to pay overs for their services if you want to get them in.

The actual risk, I'll use Gibbs as an example, is that you over pay at the trade and then either get nothing in return and/or over pay salary. So 10 and 16 for Gibbs, plus around $500k per year, 37 games and then paid him to play at South for a year. Disaster.

Another example is Cameron to Geelong. Geelong gave up picks 13,15 and 20 ( got back 32 and some other shit ) for a reported 5 years at $900k per year. 3 first rounders, $900k per year, 5 years. Massive, massive deal, every club would do it again right now. Genius.

The only part of the deal that can be judged in the next 6-8 weeks is how much we pay in the trade, the money and 4 years is 4 years from being assessed.

I hope we keep Georgiadis, he may not have had the best of seasons but I think he's going to be huge in years to come.

Georgiades is probably my favourite Port player, I love how dynamic he is as a foward so I really hope Port keep him too.

Can someone give me a case on why would Port want Rioli? Doesn't seen like he's the sharpest tool in the shed given his previous indiscretions and perhaps a quite unprofessional footballer?

Yeah I didn't initially mention Grey and Motlop and I know Port have to replace them and their role and Fantasia couldn't get on and stay the park at SANFL level so he's no guarantee to fill there role but like MW said I feel Rioli is a massive risk for Port.

And after West Coast stood by him after his indiscretions he then decides to leave them? That's real poor IMO.

Yeah I'm not convinced Rioli has playing his best football at the forefront of his mind and is more concerned with the $$$$.

As others have said if you want him you need to pay the $$$$. If he stayed at West Coast they would have to much leverage based on the support they provided him to negotiate him down. At 27 this is the biggest contract his going to get regardless of how well he performs at Port.

Cant blame the bloke for chasing the $$$$ but if I'm Port I'm thinking the risk is far to great even despite the challenges they face looking for a small forward.

I don't see much value at all. And if it means we lose Mitch in the process I'll be really disappointed.

Agree, massive overs. Rioli's of the modern era seemed to be blessed with premierships though, that's the only upside I can see. Should be enquiring about Kozzie's services, out of contract end of next year.

Adelaide’s Luke Brown announces his retirement at only 29.

Injuries seemed to catch up with him.

Well he's come at the right time then, when did Kochie announce 3 in 5 years?

Missing piece?

Although with SPP, plenty of comments going around that they dont want him, he's not even in Ports best 21

He'd almost be their best mid right off the bat.

Billy Frampton announced he wants to be traded to Collingwood , nothing short of a first round selection IMO as he is a required player

Why does a player, who is out of contact, need to request a trade?
