I thought that when I drove past this arvo and took the photo.
Thought the whole idea of the ceremony tomorrow was to unveil the colours.
Pretty poor IMO

This is crap, Fester has put pics on facebook, they don't unveil the actual chimney, just a small model of one in the marquee at the unveiling function.

The 2022 , in my opinion, was the least skilled team of those flag teams
However, in my opinion , they are the most courageous team of the lot.
They gave up leads in all 4 finals this year and prevailed 3 times.

Gee, we managed in 11 years what you took a half-century to achieve ;)
Naw, well done to Norwood on showing a lot of character in winning this year's flag - coming pretty much from rank outsiders at the halfway mark of the year.

Yep, this is what i came on here to bitch about. It looks like a metal wrap around and completely detracts from the actual chimney itself. Terrible

i wonder if this is because that chimely is heritage listed and if they painted the top each year, would take away some of the original Hallet signage?

Regardless, as a staunch traditionalist - not a fan

Every Sunday afternoon for the past year I’ve packed into my small hatch back the sun lounge, a bottle of creaming soda, a straw and Peter Cornwall and David Burtenshaw’s The Best of Both Worlds and driven into the Brickworks car park, found myself a quiet spot on the lawned area and gazed up at that chimney. It was magnificent!

I would agree with most of the comments on here that it looks pretty terrible now. And how dare they ruin the surprise of what the colours will look like! Lucky they didn’t unveil it on Saturday and ruin the result for everyone!

Last year it wasn’t even up on the day due to the windy weather in the days after the Grand Final, so we just got the miniature version too.
Probably a lot more difficult to cover it up now than at the brewery without the structure around it top to bottom.
I’m curious to know if they just put a sticker type wrap around the exiting sleeve or if the sleeve was swapped over.
It’s certainly not the same as the brewery but at least the tradition has continued in some form,
I hope to see our colours up there again in years to come, it’s a great teaching point for a bus full of school kids going to and from the Thebarton pool 5 times in a week
Trust the process.

REB, REB, REB, my friend, I thought that you of all people would have better knowledge of your own club. Norwood have NEVER won 9 premierships in 11 years.
You won in 1878, 1879, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1883 then missed out in 1884, 1885, 1886 before winning in 1877, 1888 and 1889. That makes 9 premierships in TWELVE years. ;)
However, yes, our first 35 years were spent mainly down in the doldrums... which made our first premiership all the much sweeter.
If premierships were a 'given' every year, they would not be as sweet or enjoyable ;)

I have a stack of Football Budgets from the 2022 season which I am about to toss in the recycle bin. Perhaps they would be useful to someone (presumably a Redlegs fan) as a souvenir of the season. They are in reasonable nick, although most have been folded in half to fit in the jeans back pocket. The ones I have are:

Rounds 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 10&11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, finals week 1 & week2.

If anyone wants 'em for free, drop me a PM.

One of my great regrets in life is not grabbing a couple of (deleted year) "show no Mercy" premiership t-shirts with our named team on the back from a box in a back room at the Glenelg FC in about 1995....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
