2 x premiership player
Returning to his home state
Good age at 24.
97 games under the belt
Averages 17 possies and 6 tackles a game and should now be coming into his prime.
Managed 42 games in the last two years so seems to not get injured much

Hardly think they are going to be giving away to much to get him, for mine could be one of the better trades in the off season.

You've just sung his praises, "into his prime", "premiership player" yet then say "Hardly think they are going to be giving away to much to get him"
Why would that be?

Just the reports i've read suggested he wont be a first rounder.......dont know how true that is but given Richmond are trying to get rid of him to make room for others rather than him wanting to leave means i think there could some truth in that. If they get him for anything in the second round i would say thats a pretty good deal.

Given Rankine (who admittedly has a lot of potential) will probably cost a bit more i think Graham could be somewhat of a bargain.

I thought it was more Graham reading the room and realising he is not going to play much in 2023. Richmond would not need to trade him though I wouldnt have thought if he is contracted? will be an interesting negotiation. Who wants it more.

I'd like to keep pick 8 as there's some elite mids in this years draft around that mark ( Phillipou, Hewett, Mackenzie - Tsatas won't be there at pick 8 and Busslinger - key defender might be one we go for long term ) but I've got a feeling we might use 8 as some expect with Fremantle.

We give Fremantle pick 8, they give us 14 and one of their second rounders (perhaps more as we hold the whip hand) they'll get from North in the AFL's "Get North good" strategy as after pick 8 our next one is 53. I think we'll get 14, 30* something and 53, probably handing over 14 for Graham and getting something in the 30's back.

Richmond need 1st rounders for Taranto and Hopper from GWS.

So 8,53 and change might end up Graham and 2 x 30* something.

They need picks for Taranto and Hopper so they'll want a late 1st for him I think, see my comments above.

Forgetting the 30 something picks because lets be honest they are pure lottery......just as many misses as hits once you start getting that low.

Pick 8 is maybe slightly overs
A late first rounder is a probably a par trade
Anything in the second round is a win to Port.

Could we see Port try and trade another player out to try and keep the pick 8 ..... what is Port expecting to get for Amon...could that somehow be used to get Graham.

Amon pick will go to West Coast for Rioli.

Expected to be end of 1st round, with F/S and Academy picks, around pick 22.

What are your thoughts on that......

Personally and i don't know if its even possible but i would rather Amon end of first rounder used to secure Graham, forget about Rioli and keep your 8 pick.

We've committed to Rioli so no real point thinking about not going after him.

Serious question, what does he give you that you don't have in your 22 now? who does he replace?

Plays as much outside as he does in, makes the likes of Duursma, Farrell and Bergman on the outside honest, makes Drew, SPP and Houston honest on the inside and brings 97 games experience at age 24 to the club from a place he won 2 flags and came 2nd in one of them in the club best and fairest.

Of those mentioned only SPP and Houston would be picked ahead of him right now, IMO. If it makes the others better, even better.

Graham is a ripper and will be a solid get for Port, one of those players who you notice in your team but not as much as opposition team do. Riewoldt has often said Graham is the best kick inside 50m for Richmond on goal & to leading forwards and that's exactly what Port need + he applies great pressure. Perfect fit for them.

For me a pick between 20-30 would get it done you would presume.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Ouch……graham has decided he does not want to be traded to Port.

Not the greatest start to their preseason with Graham and Dunkley who reportedly Port had interest in both choosing other options.

Looks like Rioli will be the big fish…….eek

Looks like Esava Ratugolea might be on Ports agenda. Would make sense from Geelongs point of view as they will be looking to make room for Oliver Henry.

Would the fact that Hinkley is highly unlikely to be at the club in 2024 be off putting to potential recruits?
