Illawarra are dead set terrible. The NBL standard this year has gone up another notch apart from them. The Sixers just need to gel.

To be honest I'm surprised they took this long to cut Randall he was clearly a major issue with how much of a hog he was. There was even talk when we were over in the US that the Sixers were even considering cutting him then. None of his teammates liked him either.

You could just see in the Blitz games how much of a problem he was going to be. Treating the games as his personal showcase his teammates and winning be damned. That's how meaningless big scoring numbers are in the G-League it's a garbage league where wins and losses are irrelevant and it's all about NBA teams developing their young guys and individuals trying to showcase themselves. Randall was putting up big numbers in the G-League last season but not one NBA team signed him which rang alarm bells for me. Even after the Phoenix game still no NBA contract, again it says a lot.

Players like this guy don't understand he's never going to score his way into the NBA, those teams aren't looking for scorers from lower leagues they've got plenty of those already they're looking for guys that can play a role and help fill a niche that's missing on their team like defence or 3pt shooting or veteran leadership. That's why guys like Delly & Jack White are now in the NBA or in Delly's case back in even after a mediocre season in the NBL but players like Randall are overlooked.

This team is far too talented to be having massive 25-30 point losses at home. It was clear something was rotten in the team those kinds of results with a team this talented are protests. Players were just going through the motions pissed that they're rarely ever seeing the ball on offence. Randall was too much of a black hole offensively when he would get it that would be it it was always going up no matter what the ball wouldn't move, players would stop moving it was horrible to watch, in the SEM game he tried to jack up a 3 when double teamed and got stripped. You can't have a guy like this on your team if you're serious about winning games.

I thought by finally bringing him off the bench last game Randall wouldn't like that he played badly and now here we are.

DP Nick Marshall gets elevated to the roster for the time being with a replacement import expected to be signed.

Nice post Gozu.

Having said that, Bruton brought him into the team and would have known alot of what you have said but didn’t appear to try change any of it.
He could obviously play so the issues must be bigger than it appears here.

Totally agree this was also weak coaching by CJ that helped to create the problem. Randall should've been told from the start to reign himself in or he would find himself coming off the bench or even released. CJ as the coach allowed this situation to fester by hoping Randall and his teammates would work it all out.

Franks & Cleveland have both got two-year deals meaning neither of them can be cut unless their contracts are paid out in full for the rest of the season so the imperative wasn't there for them to pull Randall aside, the local players on the team don't really have the balls or cache to do it either it's the coach's responsibility to deal with a problem player.

Honestly Randall should never have been signed in the first place. I was a bit surprised when his signing was announced because the last thing this team needed was even more offence. DJ, Franks and to a lesser degree Cleveland are already big scorers in the NBL and guys like Drmic, Dech and McCarron can have their moments too.

What this team needed out of that third import spot was a big guy willing to play defence inside, rebound and not be too concerned about getting his points, like Pardon at the Breakers he would've been perfect. Then there is also the fact we never signed a back-up PG too. We let Dufelmeier leave and never replaced him. We've got one point guard in McCarron and if something happens to him we'd be screwed as we're playing Dech out of position as the back up PG.
