Yeah I’m surprised by this

If I have my timings right in Thommo time we have seen Dallas Hill, Jacob Templeton, Neagle x 2 return to the club and for one reason or another it hasn’t really worked out on the second occasion either.

TIGERS RETURN BUT NOT COACH
ANDREW CAPEL
SANFL club Glenelg is poised to part ways with grand final coach Brett Hand
with a year left on his contract.
Hand, who won his first 17 games in his first season as Tigers coach in 2021,
was absent when the club resumed pre-season training this week and he is
unlikely to return.
It is understood the former Greater Western Sydney development coach has
taken time away from the club to assess his future after losing the faith of
the playing group.
In a sign he will not be returning, Hand has changed his LinkedIn profile to
“looking for the next chapter”.
Senior players are believed to have questioned his game plan and training
standards and ongoing negotiations have not resolved the issue.
Key players had threatened to leave but most have signed in recent weeks,
including 2019 Magarey Medallist Luke Partington.
Four-time club champion Matthew Snook remains out of contract.
Assistant coach Brett Exelby ran training this week while Glenelg has
appointed former Adelaide star Richard Douglas to the full-time role of
women’s football operations and talent manager, with a senior men’s -
assistant coach component.
Glenelg president Peter Carey said Hand was still employed by the club but
would not elaborate further.
It is understood the Tigers have started interviewing prospective -
replacements.
Former Norwood player Hand’s fall from grace is remarkable.
After taking over as coach from 2019 premiership mentor Mark Stone late in
2020 when Stone moved to the AFL to join Brisbane Lions as an assistant
coach, he won his first 17 games in charge before losing in the final minor
round to Port Adelaide.
He was named The Advertiser SANFL coach of the year for steering the Tigers
to the minor premiership but they were thrashed in the grand final by
Woodville-West Torrens.
Hand, originally on a two-year deal, signed a one-year contract extension in
February.
He had Glenelg sitting top before it lost key players Brett Turner (Adelaide)
and Sam Durdin (Carlton) in the AFL mid-season draft and it slumped to
fourth, defeating Sturt in the elimination final before falling to eventual
premier Norwood in the first semi

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Riley Collier-Dawkins, a 191cm big bodied midfielder that will be a welcome asset for coach Jade Sheedy.

Taken at pick 20 in the 2018 AFL draft, Collier-Dawkins has spent the previous four seasons at Richmond where in that time he played 11 AFL matches, and was a member of the Tigers 2019 VFL Premiership team.

Signing of the off season for mine.

That was the worry at the Parade last off-season. Obviously need some ability among the incoming (naturally not all will make the grade) but think the coach is the biggest factor in it. Since the AFL-aligned clubs joined in, any club can turn it around in a single off-season if they get it right. From memory Westies and North were at or near bottom before winning the flag the following season.

I think with a lot of these type of signings, it means he if is not picked by Central (reserves), he will play at Gawler Central.

Makes no sense to be doing a pre-season at a League club, otherwise.

Has a massive amount of ability but certainly lacks in the commitment side of things. Has a lot going on outside of football that distracts him away and causes some issues in his life. Kid can play but unfortunately, will never make the most of his potential.

The Norwood Football Club is excited to announce the recruitment of Sam Nehme for the 2023 SANFL Season.

Sam had an excellent year for the Oakleigh Chargers in the AFL U18 NAB League and received the Backline Award.

A left foot kick, Sam is a strong bodied defender, who has excellent aerial skills and very good decision making.

Sam will commence pre-season training with the senior squad next Monday and he is excited to start his career as a Norwood player.

We welcome Sam and look forward to what he will bring to the Norwood Football Club.
