16 points with 3 scratches, 48 off the stick with two 8's and a 7 on there. The 5th hole is my nemesis

The 5th hole...

My aim was always to be level with the bunker off the tee and more to the right side of the fairway. Left is generally lost ball in that rubbish.
2nd shot was generally a hybrid/5w but just to the bottom of the hill.
Then it's around 110m uphill in and either an 8 or 9 and aim it left of the green to get it to feed back around.
I generally avoided the bunker at the front.
But I regularly found the rubbish on the left off the tee.... and occasionally found the drain on 16th

Its a prick of a hole, drive is usually no issue as its a nice wide fairway, last night I put my second halfway up the hill about 70m from the pin but in the left trees, duffed 2 attempts to get out, then drama on the green to take an 8  think I might take my putter for my 2nd from now on and get the ball to the bottom of the hill

And you will probably be able to have a decent crack at driving greens on the 2nd uphill par 3. Greens been fixed and the ass cheeks removed., 4th, 13th over the dam and the 17th is you take the Tiger line between the Gum and rubbish on the right off the tee. But just don't slice it!
I'd expect an eagle on the par 5 6th hole.

Most greens slope back towards Glenelg or there's also a stories pole that sticks out when looking back that way

Goodluck

Played Victor Harbor yesterday in an Ambrose and we hit a 63 off the stick which included an Eagle on the 12th.

Course in excellent condition yet no one down there. Do yourself a favour and have a hit down there over the break.

Good reminder, haven't played there fore 10+ years but always enjoyed it.

Shot a 44 for 17 points last night on the back nine at Vines, bit disappointed after 2 pars to open the round, but only hit one fairway so probably ended up OK

First time experience at Thaxted certainty clouded by the wind, my god it was disgusting! absolutely horrible. Greens were literally like glass, quickest i've seen in a very long time, in fact i actually don't remember putting on quicker greens ever. Upon completion it was explained that the greens were double cut in the morning, strange for a Monday, but i then found out the pro shop were part of the day and got them double cut.

With the above being said, certainly a lovely course we teed off from the 10th, I nailed a drive up the right side, then hit a 3 wood in eagle putt our first hole (missed it, got the birdie) but i thought jesus i'm on today, let me tell you it went downhill very quickly lol  I have a very high ball flight, with a slight fade, well that doesn't suit windy conditions at the best of times it also certainly doesn't suit Thaxted Park at all!

Turned 6 under off the bat (back 9), ended up 9 under after 18, with a handicap of 3.75 (handicaps of 2,3,11 and 14) finished midfield 24 groups in total. Just didn't make enough Putts, tee to green we were actually pretty good.

NTP on 11th noone hit the green in 24 groups! Loved the short little par 3 very nice setting.

Look forward to playing the course when its not so bloody windy!

The Par 3 16th is signature hole there.
They have a fascination with quick greens.

They are selling off the 17th/18th for land packages along with the driving range area behind the 6th green from memory

One of the blokes I play with, who was playing in the group in front of me, got a hole in one there. Dribbled it off the tee, down the hill, over the little creek thing and then somehow in the hole.
