It's also the second shortest completed test match in balls bowled (866) since WW2. The shortest is India v England in Ahmedabad (842) last year.[/quote]

Def must be the teams.

I think the pitch has a lot to do with it.

When balls are exploding over the keepers Head for 5 wides one could say it's not ideal

Yet one bloke made a run a ball 90.

No, you’re right Jackpot, let’s just dish up roads and watch teams make 600.

We dont want roads or green tops like this.
Surely its not that hard to produce something in between?

The Gabba imo have consistently produced the best Test match pitches in Australia over the years that have offered assistance to pacve bowlers early then good for batting before offering something for spinners later.

My question is "Why have they gone with something so far different to what they normally dish up?". Quite simply makes no sense. :? :?

Obviously whatever pitch is produced there's no guarantees on how the game will pan out as there are many factors involved in determining it including the performances of bowlers and batters etc.
2 batters made over 50 for the Test, one being Head who was within an inch of being caught for stuff all in the 1st innings.

I reckon that was a 'minus 2' day pitch.

If that was prepared for a Monday start, it would be ok and offer some benefit for the bowler but if the batsman got in, it'd be ok. As it was it was too green and not test-ready.

Unfortunately will be remembered for the wrong reasons, not the Super 6 player that burst on to the scene pigeon-holed for the shorter game, went and worked hard to develop his skillset and turned into one of our most entertaining opening batsmen ever.

Disappointing.

Does Hazelwood come straight back in?

In all honesty, Cummins is a better option for the new ball.

Boland has to play at the G. Hazelwood misses out.

In England my preferred line up would be Cummins, Hazelwood and Boland and really test the english patience.

In India i think you go with Cummins, Starc, Green, Lyon and one other spinner. Starc gets the nod for me as the pacemen will only bowl four over spells here and there so might as well have Starc come in and try and jag a wicket, if reveres aka ball tampering is around then becomes crucial on those decks.

Ahhhh, I wasn't sure which post you were replying to.

Boland's average has drifted out to 10.36.

Starc can't miss out on the greener decks, 197cm left arm quicks don't grow on trees, we need the variation.

For mine Starc has been average in his england tours and on the postage stamps.

Personally i think the English will produce some flat wickets. Remember when Swann was the worlds best and they produced big turners for a period there. I would expect fairly flat wickets with a little bit of nibble. They will back themselves in to score real quick giving themselves plenty of time to win a test even if its high scoring. Declerations will be super interesting. Personally i start with the 3 accurate blokes and really try and slow the test down a bit and see how attacking the english are willing to go to super tight bowling. If that fails then we would have the best back up in the world in Starc to come in.

Also keeping in mind Cummins, Hazlewood, Siddle performed very well over there last time and got our best result in many many years.

She didn't have time. Noticed she was doing live coverage of the surf lifesaving series on fox sports. Not at the cricket.
