More from Tassie.

The Norwood Football Club is excited to announce signing of Alec Wright and Michael Stingel, another two boys from Tasmania, for season 2023.

Alec is from Launceston FC, in the Tasmanian State League (TSL), where he played in 3 Premierships – 2020, 2021 and 2022. Alec is a tall half back who has excellent endurance and kicking skills.

Michael is from North Launceston FC, a 19yo whose footy has developed rapidly in the last 12 months since playing in the VFL for North Melbourne. Michael is athletically gifted and has capability to play in a variety of positions.

We welcome both players and look forward to what they will bring to the Norwood Football Club.

Other than Rantell a 12 pack of kids chips pays the rest.

The ones we have brought in wouldn’t be much more. Mostly ex players and Tassie kids

Don’t disagree although Ling and Callow would have been offered a bit.

Every club has been busy with signings except West Adelaide.
18 outs and 4 ins!!!
We will also lose Oscar Steene to Collingwood iwhen he is rookie listed.

Our squad is significantly weaker than last year and we won 3 games!!

What chance has Adam Hartlett got!!
Another bottom finish would be 5 in a row.

I agree, things appear rather bleak at Westies, plus you lost 3 or 4 players recently to the draft,
what a kick in the head, finish bottom & still get plundered!!

How many league games did those players play last season?

COMING
Ex AFL players can't be cheap to recruit even if returning - Jackson Callow (returned/Hawthorn), Matt Ling (Sydney Swans/Geelong VFL), Jack Saunders (returned/Hawthorn)

Interstate recruits - Patrick Walker (North Melbourne VFL/North Hobart), Ollie Sanders (Carlton VFL/North Launceston), Alec Wright (Launceston), Michael Stingel (North Launceston), Sam Nehme (Oakleigh Chargers)

Free transfers maybe? - Luke Bogle (South Adelaide), Jake Cresswell (South Adelaide), Ethan Haylock (Payneham/Woodville-West Torrens)

It's a good bit of recruiting.

The salary cap has increased by $100,00

Luke Bogle was a $14000 clearance fee.

Norwood "benefactors" like all clubs can provide the framework to entice players. Perfectly legal.

STURT SIGNING

The Club is pleased to announce the signing of ex AFL player 22-year-old Martin Frederick.

The running defender was drafted to Port Adelaide in 2018 as part of the Next Generation Academy and has played 14 AFL games.

"We're delighted to have Martin join the club," said Football Manager Chris Trap. "He has elite speed and power and will add an x-factor to our line up."

Watch Frederick's highlights here.

We look forward to seeing Frederick in action in 2023.

That is quite a surprise.

Think there are quite a few ex AFL players trying to get a SANFL club contract still.

This is a great signing for the Dogs, could be a very good asset.

Even with all the recruiting we have done a lot of the other sides appear to have done better with who theyve brought in .
I know we wont get a true indication until the season is up and going, just feel we have recruited lads that may not play a lot of league footy .

First of all, you're speculating.
Secondly, people weren't happy because we didn't recruit very many players & now we have/are.
Thirdly, no-one expects us to go top, this is a long-term recruiting drive,
I'm HOPING that we win more than 4 matches next year & I'll be very happy if we make the five,
if we win more than 4 matches next season AND are very competitive in the ones we lose, then we're going in the right direction.
Be positive.
