He’s not #1 in the world without reason, technically as good as it gets

I think the NSW theory is becoming a thing of the past, generally our test XI is our best XI available.

Been a while since SA had two regular players in the national side. Gillespie and Lehmann/Blewett would’ve been the last lot.

Definitely a thing of the past,
Only one of the last eight test debutants have been from NSW (Kurtis Patterson)
Two of the last 17 (Nic Maddinson)
Three of the last 22 (Peter Nevill)

Warner will be remembered for his 200 and average 53.25 for the series.

Realistically though he scored 0, 3, 200, 10.

Has failed miserably in 3 of the 4 innings that one innings has definitely masked where he is at these days.

Perception v Reality
Furthermore since O'Keefe and Hazlewood debuted in succession those I named are 3 of 24 debuants, South Australia has had 4 test debutants in that 24.

My interesting stat of the day....well to me anyway. The Australian batting line up has 8 blokes who average more batting at test level than they do at first class level. I wonder how often that has happened and what does that say about the quality of either.

He is #1 but is still improving... particularly with technical aspects of his stroke play.
I think he has clearly matured. He is no longer a Smith prototype, he is his own man. He has retained his energy but a lot of the mannerisms and yelling has been reigned in.

So few players know how to build a Test innings in this day
In contrast to Marnus, Warner has NEVER learnt to build an innings. Hence his 200 or bust record.

Pretty tough call imo given the soft call was OUT.

Soft signal is apparently now relevant but still thought it looked clean to me especially live.

Yep sorry.

Still interesting our batters seem to struggle at shield level more so than test level.

Isa Guha saying that the soft call is only relevant if there are no replays available. That being the case, would it be better not to give a signal if it is referred by the umpires?
