The International League Twenty20 now playing in the UAE hasn’t been given official T20 status because UAE isn’t a full ICC member. Stats don’t count towards players career stats.

I fully blame the spud for Perth losing, the spud trying to keep the strike and getting out first ball of the next over cost them the match.

This means I've watched a bit of BBL over the past couple of years so I feel a bit more qualified to make a few observations.....

The standard is appalling (all out 15, whatever the strikers have dished up last two games)
Some of the rules are non-sensical, particularly this season (hit the roof, volleyball catches)
Players who back up every year seem to regress in their game (Sams, Phillipe)
Too many matches (fixed next year)
Too many players representing a team before ******* off somewhere else (Rashid, Lynn, Hales, Russell etc, etc)
The same two teams seem to dominate every year

And this is what we've weakened the shield for? This format has its place but itsall about Tests as the crowds have shown this year (except Perth). Kill that and the game I love is dead.

Dear Redleg E Boy.

The world of sport evolves and old anal explosions like me and you need to realise that.
20/20 is what the younger generation craves for and the cricket authorities are cashing in on that.

I can't find the article but i read last week that apparently this BBL has been a huge TV success. Apparently, the evening games are getting 'Friday Night Footy' numbers each day of the week......well that was the headline story.

Supposedly viewing numbers were up massively on last year and with the aussie guys back they expected that to continue.

Not sure how attendances are fairing however.

It helps when all the regular tv shows are having a break too, they are up against pure puss. On the other hand, it's attracting a new crowd so it is a win, the games are very atmospheric, I'm forever seeing friends on FB going to the BBL that generally would have no interest in cricket.

I’ve half enjoyed watching the BBL this season, been plenty of close games and I think the standard has been a bit higher than previous seasons.

Likeable? All reports are that he's a bit of a flogger, that's why he doesn't remain in the same franchise for any extended period of time.
