BetR just offered me $500 cash to forfeit all 3 of my remaining promo bets (Geelong, Celtics, Penrith Panthers).

Anyone else get a similar offer?

I’ve got Melbourne, the Celtics & Sydney Roosters, haven’t received anything.
Hold tight, only bad luck/injury look like stopping the Celtics.

I took Phoenix to win NBA Title at 101/1, I must say I am glad KD went there.

ok i need some advice please i placed a bet with sportsbet on thursday

1. i placed a 9 leg multi on afl round 1

2. i picked 8 winners, rich and carlton drew but it counted as a win in the pending bets,

3. my collect was to be $980 for an outlay of $3

4. when the bombers were home against hawthorn i only needed to saints to beat freo.

5. to cover the bet i backed freo $500 @1.60 so i stood to collect.... $980 should saints win, and $800 if freo won, I CANT LOSE............CAN I?

6. saints win, YOU BEAUTY $980 collect, profit of $477

7. check sportsbet and they have only paid me $556

8. did the maths and worked out they didnt pay the rich v carl game

9. if i knew that i wouldnt have plonked so much on freo,

10. shouldnt they have changed the amount i stood to win if they werent paying the $980?

and no i havent contacted them yet, and if i havent been clear, the payout was showing $980 until they paid me out

they did not pay on the thursday game, i worked that much out, my beef is that they should have changed the pay out accordingly, if i knew i was standing to collect $556 i would have put less on freo, not five hunge

So the 1st leg was voided? If so then it wouldn't have been hard to work out the the odds for the remaining legs

Re: 5. Why are you covering?

If you are not willing to let the bet ride, don't put the 9th leg on to begin with.

Rough numbers, but say you have a 9 leg multi that will pay out $1000, then you chicken out and hedge the last leg, locking in a profit of say $500 each way.
Had you just put the 8 legs on to begin with, it would have paid roughly $550.

Each leg you cash out, you are costing yourself roughly 10%

(If something dramatically changes between placing the bet and cashing out, that's potentially a different story, but as a general rule if you are not willing to let your bets ride, you shouldn't be putting on such a big multi).

Also, by putting on just the 8 legs to begin with, you can still do the last if you want anyway, just take the $550 payout and put the lot on the remaining game.
This does two things, not only do you not lose the 10% if you don't want the last bet anymore, but also, if you do place it, your turnover with the bookie goes up and you'll get better offers out of them.

RE: 5

If you can lock in a profit.
Whether it's laying back to break even the result or laying back and having a bias one way or the other then it's a good move.

Lets say you have a $3 multi, 9 legs, paying out $1001. The last leg you are on the $1.82 favourite.
You hedge that with another $500 on the $2.00 underdog.

Now if the fav wins, you collect $1001 (from the multi) and lose $500 on the hedge, for a $501 net return.
If the Dog wins, you lose your multi, but win $500 on the hedge.

Locking in a ~$500 return either way! How good.

Or you can look at the fact your $3 multi would have paid $550 if it was 8 legs, not 9 ($1001/$1.82 = 550).
This $550 was already in your pocket had you only put on 8 legs instead of 9.

Don't place the 9th leg to begin with and you walk away with $550, rather than $500.

If you want to lock in profit, that's fine, but you lock in more profit by only having an 8 leg multi rather than 9.
