Without having enough knowledge on the quality of the recruits it is difficult to predict our starting 22 and with it how much different the team will look from last years. If, as I suspect, there is considerable turnover, it might take half a dozen games for the team to gel and find its best combination. That may mean a few early losses…
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Followers, the old term used to name the ruck, ruck rover and rover in the midfield.

Sure had a breakout season last year; hoping he continues in that vein.

And doing plenty to impress on the training track. Will be used as a key forward.
Jezz McLennan is burning up the track.
Nietschke to do some work in the midfield.
Liddy on the up and up after his injury scare before Christmas.
Of the locals, look out for stronger and fitter Luca Whitlum, Carpenter and Dudley.

She was in hospital a couple of weeks back with blood clots on the lungs, but then had returned home.

Can only assume it was related. Spoke with her son Wayne last night via Messenger, who of course was devastated.

Edwards on fire!!!!

The Gowan’s ends at Elizabeth Oval

Great stuff happening off field

Fingers crossed it translates to on field

Probably the most positive off field off season in at least a decade.

Spoke to the Schiller's parents on the weekend at the caravan show,
they reckon Travis is DEFINITELY back to train & play this season, once he returns from overseas.

I still have a bit of PTSD floating around from circa 2000-2005, but a strong Central adds another element to the comp. Plus, we're on a Merve Hughes style hatrick. I'd like to see that happen.

The Gowans Ends would be appropriate. Was there any others that played in all 9 premierships of that (unbelievable) era?

Nup, Sladey finished at the end of 2008 i think,

Richie Cochrane & Daniel Schell played in every premiership season too.

Nah neither of them were in the 2000 side. Richie first was 2003 i believe. Sam McArdle and Kynan Ford were the big forwards in 2000. I think Ritchie and Paul Thomas won the reserves premiership in 2002 with Roy Laird and then got their first league one in 2023 under Lairdy as well. Albeit i think they both made their league debuts in 2000 (could be wrong on that)
