Some cricticise The Trav when he fails playing shots
When you are on 90 and get out playing a half hearted drive, I consider that worse

Well batted Trav and Lab
Could easily have been 5/100 and lost this match

I’m not against Head opening long term but who bats at 5?
Is Hanscomb the answer?
Or does Bancroft open now and Head goes back to 5?
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I don't think it's that black and white.

I agree the chances of him batting exceedingly well are slim.

But I also think you're overestimating the chances of him having four dud tests.

I reckon, given his form, there's every chance he'd make a couple of 50s, and maybe a 40-odd, and average between 25-30, with only a couple of Australians behind him.

Given all that's been said about his ability to play spin, I reckon he'd take a fair bit of confidence out of that. Plus, he heads to England on the back of not being dropped. Again, better for his confidence that way.

12 & 43
9 & 49*
32 & 90

Average 47.

It's not rocket surgery. Pick your best batsmen.

As President of the Travis Head Cheer squad, I would much prefer he bats at 5

I can't see him staying as a permanent opener but you never know. For me he drops back down to five for both the WTC Final and the Ashes and Bancroft comes in for Warner on from as Bancroft now deserves another opportunity IMO. Really Head stays opening for both instead of Warner too on form because he is done and there's no way the selectors can justify his selection for the Ashes going on recent form and also what happened in 2019 but all of us on here know they'll probably still pick Warner hoping he'll magically find form and the result will be different this time around.

Annoying that he didn't get a hundred today, he deserved it but he batted brilliantly and really he's just proved again he should of been playing in the first test.

I would be perfectly happy for Warner to be part of the squad to tour England if we had say 6 tour matches prior to the first test. Obviously his selection would be contingent on scoring runs in those tour matches.

He doesn't have a county deal and isn't in the nz A side so I don't like his chances.

Was always going to be a road

They were never serving up a pitch that would allow us to take 20 wickets and level the series.

Why ?
Is it because Stuart is playing and not broad casting ?

I did look back at that poor shot he made in test 2 when we capitulated and wonder if he had something else on his mind at the time. Poor shot no doubt but he had a lot going on, clearly.

Yeah, I possibly blew too early.

I think for team balance Bancroft opening with Usi and Head at 5 is a better looking line up, a good mixture of L and R, in particular up the top where I think it’s essential.

Do we play 2 spinners?

Agree with that mate.

Two spinners for the WTC Final at the Oval you mean? Probably not but reports suggest the Oval wicket has recently been a flat one so you never know.
