The South Australian Cricket Association thanks Nick Winter, Bailey Capel and Ryan King for their commitment and dedication to the West End Redbacks, with the trio informed this week that their contracts will not be renewed.
Signed by South Australia in 2013, Winter came from Canberra to have a big impact for a decade as a Redback, both on and off the field, including being the South Australian representee for the Australian Cricketers Association.
Originally debuting in One Day Cup cricket in 2014, Winter then earned a baggy red cap for his First-Class debut in 2017. In all, Winter played 30 matches for South Australia, taking 84 wickets, including four five-wicket hauls and best figures of 5-48.
Signed from West Torrens, Capel debuted for South Australia in the summer of 2021-22, taking the field in the Redbacks final Sheffield Shield game of the season against NSW. Alongside fellow debutants Jordan Buckingham and Thomas Kelly, Capel helped South Australia to a breakthrough victory.
Earning a contract through consistent runs with East Torrens, King joined the Redbacks as a 19-year-old in 2021. Despite not debuting during his time with South Australia, King impressed in his time within the state system and has shown his talent with bat in hand.
SACA General Manager of Cricket Tim Nielsen thanked Winter, Capel and King for their time with South Australia.
“Nick, Bailey and Ryan have all been great members of our squad and we are extremely grateful for their service to South Australian cricket,” Nielsen said.
“While on field performance is of course the ultimate measure for our players and staff, what each individual brings to the team environment is also vital and Nick, Bailey and Ryan have contributed positively during their time at the state level.
“This is always a tough time of year with the playing list undergoing changes, but we are excited about where our squad is placed and look forward to further reinforcing it in the coming months.”
PAFC. Forever.
