Port Adelaide 2023

Talk on the national game

Whilst Lycett is only 30 he looks finished at this level.
Finlayson has to ruck the rest of the year with a youngster to debut(not sure who?) to come in and get some game time under their belt.
Watched Georgiadis in the early game and he looked disinterested.
I’d be getting him back in the 1’s ASAP before he packs his bags and heads home.

You could never question Jonas’s commitment and what he gives to the jumper but he looks so slow out there.

Ports youngster still look the goods it’s the 100-200 gamers who have all gone backwards(except SPP and Burton).
DBJ, Clurey, Houston, Wines, Lycett, Fantasia, Bonner, McKenzie all look to have gone backwards since the 2021 season.
It’s generally the 100 gamers who win you finals and premierships.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Booney.

Like usual I agree and appreciate your views in what is a good and accurate review.

One point if I may.

I did not feel that Clurey gave Walker a bath. For me I thought he was terrible. Perceptions heh.

Do either or both of Jonas and Clurey not play this week?

Walker had 11 touches at 45% ( way below his career average ) and 1 inside 50, he had no impact on the game. I'm sure he'd probably have some admiration in the review this morning, he no doubt did his job to get Thilthorpe one out, but he had no direct impact on the game himself.

I think they both play, McKenzie is still a week or two away and there's nothing other than Pasini ready to go, they may play him ahead of Clurey but I doubt it.

Walker was injured during the second quarter which reduced his output.

Agree re Burton in the review, was a huge out.

Speaking to Ryan though he said he injured himself at training late in the week and ironically would not have been able to play anyway.

Genuine question......could Georgiadis have wanted a move back to Eagles in the off season or is he already eyeing one off next season.

I agree statistically Walker had no impact on the game and it will never be considered as one of his good games.

In saying that i also felt like Walker was having some what of an impact.....he had a physical presence which included winning a behind the play 50m penalty. At the forward line throw ins i reckon he had the Port rucks rattled and ultimately that goal from Rankine came from Walkers ruck work.

I think Walkers a DH but the really good players find a way to still have mini impacts in the game even when the ball isn't going there way and i reckon Walker did that Saturday night. Not sure you could same about any of the Port players who were down on their game.

Wasn't Alir on Walker. I'm sure it was Alir who was wrestling with Tex for marks when the ball was coming in. Mind you I was watching from a corporate box with free alcohol

Is it Carr?
Or they still chasing an experienced coach like Pyke, Ratten or Buckley?

What stops Ken from walking or Port from moving on Ken by the half way point of the season?

6-5 win/loss? A position in the 8?

Leppitsch might be the one.

Not every coach "makes it" first time around and Brisbane had their issues on and off field when he was coach there, but, since then he's been at Richmond from 2017 where he was forwards coach in their '17 flag, midfield coach in their '19 and '20 flags and is now Head of Strategy under McRae at Collingwood. He's a strategic coach, he's what we need.

Leppitsch or Pyke if they want it would be ideal I think.

Why do you say that?
Is it coz he coached the crows and it’s a no go zone or he’s just not the right fit?
