Spoke to a couple of Port mates at AO today & they’re not sure Kane Cornes has JHF’s best interest in mind (and both labelled him a hypocrite the way he goes after other players) And whilst they loved the Hinkley/JHF after match in the rain footage, they didn’t think Ken had to go so hard in the presser.
Only bringing more focus on the kid. Anyways, just another angle.

Completely agree JHF is copping it due to Kane.

Seen a few ex players over weekend come out and call Kane a bully on social media
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Cornes has placed JHF on hooks all summer as bait fishing for clicks and for his personal gain. His #icebath and the like, whilst comical to start with, has become the catalyst for the response JHF is getting from non-North fans. If North fans boo him, whatever, he won't hear the dozen of them doing it but when neutrals start doing it I have no doubt it's because they hate Cornes and JHF is seen as an extension of him.

Hinkleys comments were 100% a shot across the bow of Cornes.

This thread alone is proving Kane is doing exactly what he is paid to do, and doing it very well, click bait and making headlines. The more people post, reply and send abuse is the more clicks the shows socials get the more money these originations make.

Kingy isn't everyones cup of tea but he 1/ doesn't seek clickbait and 2/ actually analysis's the game which delivers different insight to the games which other lazy media don't.

Gather round, the review is here.

In the second of the matches of the Saturday double header at Adelaide Oval Port Adelaide hosted the Western Bulldogs and memories of preliminary finals lost flooded back for many Port fans. A minor round win does nothing to change that but a win does no harm and that’s how it played out with Port Adelaide winning by 14 points in a soggy affair.

If not for Bulldogs skipper Bontempelli the first quarter may have seen game over. Port had 8 shots to 3, bad kicking is bad football and the 3.5 wasn’t the best return, those 3 goals though to Powell-Pepper, reinvigorated Byrne-Jones (4 contested disposals and 4 score involvements) and McEntee were all on the back on turnovers. Port’s back half again causing the opposition headaches. The Dogs caused 8 turnovers from Port but none of those resulted in an inside 50 such was the pressure and dominance of Port early. The Bont though, he had 9 touches, 6 clearances and 3 tackles at the first Gatorade break. Butters, slippery all night, had 11 touches and 3 inside 50’s for Port.

When the first sign of precipitation arrived so too did the Dogs. Weightman pulled his finger* out with 2 for the term, Naughton started to win the ball in the air and the likes of Liberatore got involved as Collingwood paid Treloar for his 6 2nd term touches. Boaks goal and DBJ’s second kept Port in front at half time, felt like the Dogs had the run of it though. It was scrappy and unattractive but you felt it was building to a crescendo. Wines had 9 for the term, slowly building into 2023.

Defensively Port had been shaky in the second term but when Aliir had his second intercept mark early in the third quarter we looked to have steadied the ship. Only briefly. A turnover midfield saw Weightman get his third, Bontempelli aided by some bright yellow participants added another and the Dogs are in front, Hannan added their third and if not for Houston adding one for Port the momentum was all with the sons of the west.

The rain had gone from steady to heavy most of the night and the mood followed as Weightman tucked away his 4th. You might not have a big game, but you can have big moments and Todd Marshall had two big moments early in the last. A pack mark and goal followed by a shot slotted from the boundary line delivered by Horne-Francis. JHF was immense in the final term, his 11 touches (7 contested), 4 clearances and 5 I50’s were match winning. Throw in two smothers and 2 contested marks and his last 30 minutes were elite. His pressure so immense that he pushed Liberatore out of play with ball in hand. Not often Libba goes past a line.

When Duursma got dragged down to goal before reaching for his quiver and Port looked home. We were when Butters intercepted and put Port 14 points in front after kicking the last 4 of the match on a low scoring night.

Boon’s best – Butters, Rozee, Wines, Horne-Francis, Houston.

It's a decent review in terms of providing a detailed account of the match and highlighting key moments and players. The language used is colorful and engaging, and the writer's passion for the game comes through. However, the review could benefit from some editing for clarity and flow. Some sentences are quite long and could be broken up for easier reading. Additionally, the review jumps around a bit in terms of chronology, which can make it challenging to follow the narrative of the match. Overall, though, it's a solid effort.

It was Houston or Aliir, just felt Houston had some really important touches, showed his class in the wet.
