Bailey Dale absolutely sunk me. **** me the bloke is no mudrunner. He's so bad I'm starting him on the bench this week. Got a huge score from my first three players and didn't fire a shot after that. :(

Half the league managed to rack up 2300 on the weekend so there were a couple of unlucky losers on the weekend. Poon Army served it up to the reigning premier but fell 28 points short but at least Poony has won a game this year. Chops have been struggling to put the points on the board so far this season but even when they do they play someone who put on even more. A high scoring loss to a fellow struggler is the stuff that relegation is made of but at least Dave is once again scoring points as FISH opened his account for the year and climbed off the bottom.

Someone who doesn’t need to score points apparently is Spiro’s Sharks. Right down at the arse end of the scoring table, Sharks are somehow unbeaten which is something he has done every year…get off to a good start before falling asleep. It’s never good to play Sharks early in the year and this week it was Roosters turn to cop the loss to perennial April champion. Summer of George isn’t one of the dominant scorers either but they are top of the ladder so when you score your points and against who could be critical in what is already shaping as a very close league this season. George certainly scored well enough this week anyway with a squeaker against HORNEY.

Delicious opened their account by ending Ecky’s winning start to the season with the Fevs a little off his scoring this week. Hondo also opened his account with a come from behind win over REBCats as both coaches jumped on the Jordan Dawson bandwagon with Bailey Fale a decisive factor. JOBBY finally showed the Premier League what he was made of with a sizzling win over the Captain but perhaps the most significant win was the high scoring efforts of The Far Callers who topped the scoring for the league as they dispatched Inner Sanctum, who like most, scored well.

The Premier League got back on the bike in terms of scoring after round 4 was a low scoring round of SuperCoach. If you didn't score 2200 this week you weren't winning in the Premier League with three unlucky teams failing to get the job done this week with scores of 2290 plus. The early season frontrunner is Summer of George who normally hangs around midtable but has made every post a winner this season as he makes his bid for the title.

It would be hard to see any side currently on 4-1 missing the eight and the surprise packet here is the Sharks who normally go even worse than my mob. Spiro's boys are scoring pretty well right now and it was an impressive 22 point win over DAISY in one of the matches of the round that sees them keeping up with the joneses. The Captain is another side who hasn't quite hit his stride in recent years but Groover appears to be back to his best with the Captain sitting inside the top four. As for Far Callers and Ecky, well, we just kind of expect them to be good and once again they are.

Bridesmaids for the past two seasons Delicious have found some form of late they are back amongst the leading scorers as well as the top eight after dragging the chain this time last year. Threepeat seeking Mediocre at Best are 3-2 as well but appear to be highly inconsistent, which is not normally a trait associated with them. Innner Sanctum are more than competent and will need to be dislodged from the eight while to me Richo Richo are the hope for all of us on the outside as someone's spot we could pinch. Right now though, Richo is sitting pretty.

Behind the ledger already are some teams capable of racking up some really big scores. Wild HORNE smashed out a huge score on the weekend with a league high 2409 to defeat a gallant chops. The other teams to crack 2400 this week included gun teams Far Callers and Ecky so some good company for Bertie this week. DAISYS DUDS and JOBBY the GOAT are finding it hard to get victories in the Premier League despite dominating in the lower grades but you can't say the aren't trying as both teams are capable of some pretty heavy scoring. JOBBY in particular really got going last week only to fall well short of Ecky. Welcome to the NFL rookie.

Down in struggle street is my predicted premiership winner in FISH and I'm not sure he'll ever forgive me for that one Looking good to go down to Divvy I next year with him are my REBCats so perhaps he can chuckle at my demise somewhat. Both teams are miles off it in scoring and badly need a victory. Hondo is another team who are scratching for points and a game ahead Poon also did not shine in the fifth round. Chops clots the only side not to win a game yet but they just need to score as well as we know they can without the other mob going gangbusters. Who is going down? My Cats and someone else.

Ecky fired a warning shot across the bow of the Premier League after his triumph over Roosters in a high scoring, high quality clash. Ecky smashed out a muscular 2511 that managed to eclipse what was a pretty decent score by Roosters. Roosters weren’t the only side to feel aggrieved. The Captain scored 2455 which wasn’t enough to defeat an impressive DAISY who won the clash by 40 points. I’d hate to be the guy who plays him next week….oh shit.

Summer of George is leading the pack and his 2362 proved too much for top eight contender Sharks as HORNE Berry scored very well again to secure another victory as they deservedly marched into the top eight. Inner Sanctum was the other side to go 2300+ as JOBBY copped yet another high scoring loss which is becoming a bit of a theme for the season for the self-proclaimed GOAT.

You could hear sighs of relief from some of the struggling coaches who broke through for a win this week. One of those was Chops Clots who cleaned up a less than ordinary Poon Army who put in an absolute shitter this week. My REBCats had a rare chance to celebrate as Richo went even worse than Poon as the Cats collected a surprise percentage boost over a team that was in the eight. Hondo was the other happy camper as they won what was an absolutely crucial clash against FISH who are falling further behind each week. I think it’s only fair that FISH is last in Premier as I’m the same in his relegation comp in BFA League 2 in bigfooty. Keep up the good work FISHy keep the pressure off me!

I've moved up from 45th to 12th overall

Interesting that you can be so high when my team is still a long way from optimal (no Ziebell or Stewart for example), the difference from being ranked 12th or 1200th may just be a couple lucky decisions

Ecky and his fevs are the runaway best side in the Hogg this year and with his nearest competitor undefeated in Divvy I, it appears that this flag is Ecky's for the taking. But hang on here...if my memory serves me correctly I recall Ecky smashing out a very high ranking side before the arse fell out and they fell away a bit towards the end of the season. See the Eckster might be forced into making a move to keep in touch with the 50k that might not be in the interests of winning the league, so there is hope for the rest of us yet. Meanwhile, there is not much hope for Richo Richo who just copped a four hundred point flogging that did nothing for their percentage. Richo's stocks have dropped a lot in the last fortnight so CoverKing will need to dig deep or suddenly find themselves in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, the bubble has burst for Summer of George who had been winning matches without scoring quite as much as their top eight rivals. The loss was in the post for awhile and Chops was the grateful recipient as they leapfrogged beaten sides Hondo and JOBBY. Inner Sanctum and Roosters fought out the close one last weekend with Inner Sanctum plucking the unlucky Roosters. In a league as close as this one appears to be, you just can't be losing these close ones. Wild HORNEY stopped being inconsistent when they defeated Delicious by 26 points to move into the top eight. One of the most unpredictable teams in the league, that's a couple of good ones in a row now so perhaps time to rate them. Meanwhile, Sharks are once again looking wonky after they looked good things a few weeks back.

Reigning premier Mediocre managed a comfortable win while it was two in a row for REBCats as they defeated DAISYSDUDS who are one of the best scorers in the league but aren't winning matches. FISH finally won a game but at 2-5 they are still bottom of the ladder. FISH's hopes are raised by the ordinary form of Hondo, Poon Army, DAISY, JOBBY and even Richo. No one is safe but no one is really out of the comp either.

Ecky first, daylight second, the rest third? We shall see gentlemen, we shall see.

1 Subscribe to Moreira's Magic and take his advice
2 Follow CBA (centre bounce attendance) movements - almost as important as scores for predicting future scores of midfielders
2 Every single player in 30 is important so make sure no dead weight with starting team
3 Trade hard and early but only to players who are underpriced - key is to be a week ahead of the pack with upgrades
4 Have some luck - this will happen once every 4 or 5 years if you play well and don't do anything silly

I've been lucky this year trading in Bont, Petracca, Day and now Merrett on the week just before they had a huge score and started to get expensive

As good as any team probably, reliant on a couple rookies playing to get up to 18 players every week but should get there.
I like bye rounds as lots of teams waste many sideways trades rather than keeping focus on long term upgrades. So hopeful I'll come out of them with as good a rank or higher, with still a few trades left.

That's awesome, well done. How's your team looking for the byes?

How many trades left?

Interesting that you can be so high when my team is still a long way from optimal (no Ziebell or Stewart for example), the difference from being ranked 12th or 1200th may just be a couple lucky decisions

Enough of this false modesty! Tips! Give us tips! :D

5 most importantly follow MAY-Z's advice who told you to get in Petracca when you did and Merrett

Much less confident now with Kelly out and looking at the other top teams and how many trades they have left (mostly more than me). Will need a lot of luck to go close now.
