There are no words for the disgrace that is the Close suspension. Maybe it's time to suspend, or at least pay a free against, anyone who tries to break a tackle. After all I believe they do something similar in Rugby Union if a player in a certain circumstance puts his head in a dangerous position that in previous times he would have got a penalty for.

Same with the Van Rooyen one. How can he get two weeks and Fogarty from last week not even get cited?

Great example and ridiculous that the two incidents can be viewed so differently.

Based on outcome not act.
Just look at Pickett and McAdam. Pickett gets two weeks as Smith could play on no problem, and McAdam gets three because his opponent had a 20 minute concussion test.

I know that's how the real world legal system works especially when it comes to assaults etc but i dont know in a sporting sense i feel the act has to be punished equal to the outcome.

Next year there’s no tackling or bumping.
It’ll be touch/tag footy.
You have to hold the guernsey and count to 3.
Tex may have to retire coz of this.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Will they?
Are post Covid crowd numbers up or down?
Surely the Adelaide teams crowds are down.

And with ratings how is that measured given we have more options to watch every game(cheap Kayo) and people have multiple TV’s at home and we also watch it on our phones nowadays to check scores.
How do they actually measure that?

I don't have the numbers but every week the AFL seem to be announcing a record attendance eg last week was the largest ever Collingwood Sydney crowd for a non-finals game.

Can anybody that's played the game tell me what van Rooyen is supposed to do if he's in the same situation in future?
Let the opponent mark uncontested?
The Murphy hit just baffles me if you put those two incidents side by side.

Kudos to the Port Lawyer for this stunning piece of Court-room repartee: “ We say unfortunately because the arm (of Rioli) was up, Mr Ridley ran into it," Ehrlich told the Tribunal.”

Beats the “Sun in my eyes” excuse they used with Frampton in 2019
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I imagine because one player was subbed out with concussion, and the other player will be able to play this week.

I didn’t mind your explanation, however it seems the tribunal has now agreed with me, downgrading it from severe to high.
For what it’s worth, I’m not sure it’s a vote of confidence when the rabble that is the tribunal agrees with me! :)

The beautiful thing about a growing population is that even without growing the game in terms of the percentage of the population that watch it, you can still announce record attendances each year as new followers join the party, even if a few dinosaurs don’t return to the game.
