Keep going lads, 2 weeks ago I managed 5 mins on the rower on the easiest setting, last night I got out to 20 mins on the 2nd hardest power setting, Im not going to step on the scales for a while, going to focus on the process for the first couple of months. Im feeling stronger and my wellbeing is good so thats all the reward I need for myself at the moment (plus an extra 20m off the tee)

Friday Weigh In. Bad news, put around half a kilo back on!

Few beers at the footy not helping.

Back to the gym over the weekend. Really need 3 sessions a week, but I struggle to make it happen.

I'm 47 now and keeping the weight off is getting very difficult.
Because I ran so much, around 60km a week, I normally don't need to watch what I eat and could maintain around 88kg but combination of older age and not being able to run as much due to other commitments but no change to diet I've moved back out to about 95kg.
In saying that, i do not watch what I eat at all.

3 gym visits in the last 50 hours, never thought Id like the gym as much as Im am and can see why some get addicted.

Ive made a decision to not step on the scales as I don't want to be ruled by the numbers, I want my measure to be my wellness and feeling stronger, if I keep this focus Im sure I will lose the Kenneth George's, focus on the process not the scoreboard.

Its only been 3 weeks but feeling pretty good, we have 2 steps in our house and with my bad knees I have been taking them one step at a time recently, however now I fly up and down them, something small but Ill take that as a win.

Put another half KG back on this week.

Frustrating.

Half a KG off this week.

Almost back to where I was.

Gym 3 times a week, a few less beers (not many less though) and some portion control around meals.

Im gunna have another go at losing weight
It will be a challenge as can only exercise moderaATEly
Covid was a shocker- now Im going with the Gough Whitlam ''Its time" [ slogan used and helped him win an election]
Its been ''Isint it time''[ The Babies] for too long

So Im starting on ZERO tomorrow 24/06/2023
I will give it a go until 24/12/2023

The equation
6 months
2 kilos per month
= 12 kilos by Xmas Eve
Then I will have a spell and resume on 26/1/2024 and try and break even for that period of time

Junk food outlets and bakeries will feel the pinch as will be without my patronage for ''most'' of the next 6 months
I will allow an occasional indulgence

A blood test has given me the incentive to lose weight
High ''sugar sugar '' [The Archies] for the very first time
Uric acid levels 'sky high'[ Jigsaw]

WEIGH INS
Need to be consistent in the way you weigh yourself for a true definitive weight reading

A
Scales should be in the same exact spot- certain spots will show a slight bias , but the variation is mostly insignificant

B
Weigh in roughly about the same time as well
Timing because if you weigh yourself before going to bed and then on awakening in the morning- you will almost certainly weigh less
Weigh in the same time in the morning- by delaying it hourly ,you will be most likely be lighter

C
Wear the same clothing for each reading, clothes can distort weight
I do it in my jocks and a shirt for consistency
The weight of clothes can cause variances
For example Balooney should weigh himself nude and then with a suit on before going to the pub
The difference can be approx. a kilo

D
For accurate readings have a piss and a crap before a reading
I find that after a piss the reading drops approx by up to 0.5 kilos
The same applies to having a crap
So a piss and a crap can be approx. 0.5 each or up to a kilo in weight

I wont elaborate on my first week of dieting/loss
It was ok as expected - the first week for me generally is
I will be challenged from now on

I get up, check my email and the news, have a light breakfast, then use the loo, then shower.
Then I weigh myself cleaned out and naked...

I got down from 98 Kg to 83 but I'm now about 87 - the problem is sticking to your diet when you are away from home and have to eat out. I'm working on getting it down to 83 again now.

Just an update on my progress

JUNE 24 - JULY
-1
A transition period of avoiding bad + fattening food to eating good or low calorie food
Simplistic approach, the kilo loss is what I expected

JULY-AUGUST
-4
3 kilos is a nice loss for the month
Had setbacks with arthritis and gout, precipitating the use of steroids to alleviate pain
Steroids, for me, increase my appetite- but the pain relief is as good as sex

WEIGHT TIPS BREAKFAST

CEREALS
Go for low sugar options - Weetbix is ok, oats are ok
I have cereals with WATER and no sugar - the sweetness of bananas and berries make it sweetish
If you have a sweet tooth , I suggest having STEVIA as a sweetener
I also have between 1-2 glasses of water every morning- to assist flushing uric acid via the kidneys

STEVIA short add

Not ideally, I hit the 100kgs mark.

So it's time to lose some kgs. I've put on 15kgs since working from home as I don't ride my bike to and from work, I'm closer to the fridge etc, etc. Less exercise/more eating! Not so good for the waist expansion.

On Sunday, whilst running for my daughter's football team, I strained my hamstring. Something tells me my body is telling me to lose weight!

Anyway, I weighed myself yesterday and I was exactly 100.0kgs, hence a great time to start.

This morning 99.5kgs.

I'll keep a daily tally and report back.

I personally wouldn't weigh daily. Could fluctuate with how much you drink, eat, go to the toilet etc each day. Then if you put on weight after a day (which you wouldn't have it would only be from what I said) you might get despondent.

I would do it once a week, at the same time of day and wearing the same amount of clothes. Takes out the variables.

^^^^^^^^^^ This a billion %.

Easier said than done but trust the process. If you're eating well and doing regular exercise, then the scales should reflect this.

Even if the scales aren't moving as quick as you would like im sure you will start to feel better, more energy, better sleep, clearer focus.

SWALLOW DITCH

This mini 2 day diet is my own creation
You have to imagine you have no teeth
You need to only eat food that you can swallow

I use protien shakes, mashed potato , mashed sweet potato , only Greek yoghurt, diet jelly, mashed apple and pear , vege juices
Use either custard or ice cream for a desert during the 48 hours
Every time Ive used this diet ive ,lost between 1-2 kilos- then put on about half as much when eating properly the next day
Total loss for the 48 hours on diet and back to norMAL after 72 hours is usually 1 kilo for me on Swallow- Ditch weight diet
Ive done this twice and all up after the eating 3rd day have lost 1 kilo both times and maintained the lossage

My go to meal on Swallow Ditch is
2 or 3 Weetbix[3% sugar only]
half a banana
skim milk or almond milk
2 small ice cubes
blender for 15 seconds
What i end up with a paste and can be swallowed- it takes eating weetbix to the next level-a very nice taste
Have tried with water as a base but = a liquid not paste

A juice i find refreshing is
avacado- cucumber - ice blended for 30 seconds [ stevia optional]

WARNING
Do not start the diet tomorrow as itza inforMALity day- its Fatso Day 8/8[ ate ate]
This is the day where im gunna cheat for the day and have something junkish

3 months on and still go to the gym 3-4 times a week, 15 mins on stair master and 10 mins on the rower to commence each session burns 250cals and then hit the weights. Haven't changed my diet by much and haven't stepped on the scales yet, but feel really good, my knees have progressed thru winter better than recent years. Planning to get on the road bike come the warmer months and focus on cutting some weight now that I feel a lot stronger.

Off to Barnbougle in March and will have to walk 3 rounds of golf in 50 odd hours and this is driving me to get as fit as I can so I can enjoy this trip instead of struggling around the courses, Ive been taking golf carts way too much over the last couple of years.
