I’ve worked closely with some of his understudy’s for a few years and a couple of them are more ruthless than Alan so will be interesting to see how things pan out. Vanessa is a good operator but she is a staunch Joyce follower and is known in the industry for her hatchet jobs. Goyder doesn’t like rocking the boat too much so a Joyce replacement was always going to be one that has been groomed for the job

We had a friend over for dinner on Saturday night.
She works onboard QF international flights
Some of her stories about (lack of) service levels were pretty astonishing

The Middle Eastern airlines are going to continue to take market share
They are better than the Asian airlines, at the moment, although I haven't flown Singapore for a number of years
Qantas are a distance behind in most, if not all, areas
Qantas punches well above its weight but due to our location we can never be a hub and simply can’t compete with the ME money. The new Saudi Airline is going to try and take over the whole airline scene with a unlimited budget.
It’s the main reason Joyce despite all his faults has kept throwing money at Project Sunrise which many thought would fail

Not service wise - its down with the US arlines - you are privileged to fly with them so suck it up

I had never heard of Saudi Airlines - no alcohol allowed on board!

The current Saudi Airline is called Saudia and they have a very good product but alcohol is banned. The new airline they want to start is called Riyadh Air and it’s believed they will remove the alcohol ban as they are spending squillions on a new fleet and new airport to try and overtake Dubai as the main hub

My cat diagnosed with cancer in the eye. Decision to be made, $2300 to remove the eye and hopefully live a normal life as a one eyed cat or euthanise.
Not even 2 years old ffs.

That's sad - but kitty can live a completely normal life with one eye. You might want to make him an inside cat though, if he isn't already.

THen he'll live to be 20 and shit on your vaccuum cleaner, like mine did this morning

My partner's family has suffered immensely from this with my partner's cousin incurring suspected paralysis from the neck down, as well as another 2 cousins sadly no longer with us.

Online news quick to further ruin their reputations with an article about the incident mentioning names of the deceased, despite their families not having yet been notified. Disgrace.

Thoughts are with those involved and their families. Horrific stuff.

I mentioned to friends, well, friends who we love so much they are family, that some of the best bus trips we have shared with them have been post wedding bus trips. The saying live, love, laugh encompasses what weddings are.

Weddings are full of love and laughter, the things that make us tick more than anything. You live the day, weddings go so fast you can't help but be engulfed by them and at the end of the day, the usually boozy, music filled bus trips are as good as they get with friends and family.

It's heartbreaking to think those people were living, loving, laughing and now they're gone. Incredibly sad and seemingly completely avoidable.

Horrible, condolences valleys :(

I see zero benefit in naming victims until well after the families have been notified, let them be the ones to share it with their wider friend/family networks in the way they deem fit. How does anyone benefit from them being named so soon? When its appropriate for the media to name them (at least 3-4 days after the accident) then there can be appropriate tributes with some input from the family if they are up to it. Show some respect ffs
