North Melbourne

Talk on the national game

North Melbourne co-captain and dual Syd Barker medallist Jy Simpkin has signed a five-year contract extension to all but ensure he is a Roo for life.

Simpkin was set to come out of contract and enter free agency next year. However, his new long-term deal will see the 25-year-old remain at the club until at least the end of 2029.
PAFC. Forever.

How's Kane gonna react to this?

Not a big fan of long term deals but this seems a good decision based on our current position, you can't afford to lose Simpkin to FA otherwise it will severely impact our growth.

Finally got around to watching the Swans game last night and having a midfield of Sheezel, Simpkin, Wardlaw, Powell, Scott & Phillips showed us the future is bright, this was without LDU and we have 2 1st rounders coming up later this year.

Absolutely, Kane is an unpaid motivator employed by many clubs.

Tom "Best of the Draft" Powell dropped again, is he up to it?

Kid’s only 21 in his third year. Played 35 games, just needs more consistency. Club’s been through a bit since he got there, I reckon he’ll be ok.

I thought he was ok last week. Surprised to see him dropped, I reckon he's one that just needs a good consistent run to get going.

Midfield mix is there. LDU, Phillips, Powell, Simpkin. Some good young talent in there.

Now the question. Thomas has been selected. What's the go there?

After our recruiting team have picked Sheezel & Wardlaw, we can only look forward to Brayden George in 2024, taken at 22 due to an ACL injury but was a top 10 prospect prior to this.

TT looked good in his first game back, lets hope he lets his footy do the talking for the rest of the year.

Despite having a rough period, considering where we were this time last year, things have improved significantly at Arden St

Was never going anywhere else, while I grimace at the length of the deal it needed to be done. I look forward to see what he can do with an emerging midfield feeding him.

Seems Ben McKay might be gone (coming this way?), he has been disappointing this year so his value has no doubt dropped.

Just brilliant, not sure there has ever been a more higher profile Father Son, Boomers career was full of Cooper in the rooms and at training.

Must admit I was doubtful about his ability, but it seems he has busted the door down to get into the team, hope he rips it up.
