Yeah he doesn’t seem as bitter as Chappelli.
He could have been the bigger bloke though and shook his hand but I guess their ego’s are too big for that

It makes me wonder why Botham agreed to join Nine for that 1998/99 Ashes knowing he would've been working alongside Chappelli.

Money and he knew it would piss him off, I think he enjoys how much Chappell hates him.

Four seamers (five if you count Stokes), that's not going to help England's over rate if Australia bat time.

It looks pretty green a couple of days out so should have some pace in it.
Can't help thinking a green wicket helps us more than them.
Jimmy will be a bit happier though.

Just saw the pitch on the news, they’ve taken a lot of grass off and looks brown now

Also weakens their batting

Are we taking the piss? Surely Wood has to play ahead of Tounge and if it's a green seamer then Woakes should play ahead of Tounge. That's a terrible selection, Tounge was like 8th in line before injuries and he took advantage of playing Ireland who are the equivalent of 2nd Div county team.

Chappell should have rode off into the sunset 10 years ago.....

I'm surprised he wasnt able to bring up bowlers going around the wicket to left handers during the conversation....

Could the green seamer work in Englands favour with Bazball.

How often do you watch a game on a real bowler friendly pitch and watch the batters go into their shells and we all sit here saying things like 'they still need to play their shots etc'

Also could there be a train of thought that similar to coming down the wickets to navigate the spin the same could be said the way the english bats walk down the wicket which could navigate the seam and swing.

I would also think that on seamers traditionally the highest % of wickets come from edges to slips/keeper. The way the English bat they are mitigating that risk a fair bit you would think.

If its a low scoring game of 220-250's all they need is one batsmen to get going or get lucky and they can post a reasonable score.

Yeah, unfortunately as much as I used to love listening to Chappelli talk about cricket, he does seem bitter, and sad and lonely as Botham said.
What was the point, at their ages, of doing it if they weren't prepared to at least meet half way. In one of his books Chappell wrote 50% of people will like you, 50% won't and you can't do much to change the odds. If so, why not shake hands, flush it out of your system and get on with those who are worth your time.

The whole thing was a bit cringeworthy, but enjoyed the old footage, some I hadn't seen. But why not bring in some others there that first Melbourne night to verify the stories.

The end bit when they got them together in the studio was very cringeworthy (and thank christ it wasn't long) but I loved the old footage.
I'm with LM, I'd be in camp Beefy. I reckon he'd make up after a beer and would be fun to chat to but Chappell loves a grudge and comes across as a complete prick.
How the hell can you hold a grudge for 50 years, I can't even hold onto one for 50 hours.

Time will tell obviously on how Tongue goes but yes I thought Wood, Potts and Woakes were all easily ahead of him.
