Four seamers (five if you count Stokes), that's not going to help England's over rate if Australia bat time.

It looks pretty green a couple of days out so should have some pace in it.
Can't help thinking a green wicket helps us more than them.
Jimmy will be a bit happier though.

Just saw the pitch on the news, they’ve taken a lot of grass off and looks brown now

Also weakens their batting

Are we taking the piss? Surely Wood has to play ahead of Tounge and if it's a green seamer then Woakes should play ahead of Tounge. That's a terrible selection, Tounge was like 8th in line before injuries and he took advantage of playing Ireland who are the equivalent of 2nd Div county team.

Time will tell obviously on how Tongue goes but yes I thought Wood, Potts and Woakes were all easily ahead of him.[/quote]Potts has 30 wickets this season for Durham in Div 2.

Josh Tongue plays for Worcestershire also in Div 2 isn't listed in the top 15. To be fair seeing as he's played against Ireland probably missed the last 2 championship rounds.

Amazingly, when Tongue played against Ireland it was the first time he'd ever played at Lords. I know it was only Ireland, but he bowled with good pace and nipped the ball both ways. Will be interesting to see how he handles the bigger stage.

I hope he gets to play Sri Lanka. I can hear the commentary now. Here comes Tongue on his way to Dickswella. Got a bit of..... The bowlers Holding, the batsman's Willey.

Last one promise. I understand Tongue has a sister who plays Ladies cricket. Apparently she is very popular.

I will see myself out.

Gotta love a Lord's test match.

Beating England at this venue is one of life's joys.

Agree.

Though I would have left Hazelwood out of both tests and played Starc and Boland.

Agreed no changes for Lords baring injury

but given Leeds starts 3 days after the Lords test is due to finish I expect changes due to physical load management

Starc / Hazelwood would be real fresh given they haven't played in both the WTC and 1st Ashes test.

Could we see:

2nd Test
Cummins
Hazelwood
Starc
Lyon

3rd Test
Cummins
Boland
Starc
Lyon

Given Starc tends to bowl shorter spells he is probably the one that could play back to back tests.....

Will Neser get a crack or is just a tad behind the other blokes???

Is Cummins as captain part of the resting rotations or is he is immune??
