17 JOBBY the GOAT 3 9 25479 26391 96.54 12
18 Richo Richo Man 3 9 24386 26245 92.92 12

While Ecky and the Farcallers are sailing through the bye period, the middle of the ladder is undergoing turmoil as teams jocky for top eight positions and the right to be in the Premier League next year. Much to my surprise, Poon Army has somehow found themselves in the top four. What is this sorcery? The dude has nearly the same team I have but Hammo is top four while my mob are scratchier than an old dog and battling it out in a relegation scrap. I'm liking the Sharks and Inner Sanctum a lot more, having recent losing experience against both so Poon will have his work cut out trying to defend his top four place. I have my doubts about George too, reckon he's a bit vulnerable from a top four perspective.

Teams on the up this week include FISH and DAISY. Two sides that have finals and scoring history who got off to a terrible start to the season. FISH is bringing back memories of Delicious and Mediocre at Best from last year who started poorly and ended up in the grand final. Nothing wrong with my tipping FISHy! Much to my dismay Chops Clots are back as well. Seeing as I can't win a chook raffle, I was kind of hoping Clottys would do a Richo and disappear down the vortex but no, they had to be Quade! Nice work Choppys but hopefully you pull a shitter when i play you.

The relegation mob appears to be down to 6 at this stage. Chops are unfortunately in reasonable form of late and Roosters, while inconsistent, look to have more wins in them. REBCats and Hondo are on a parallel journey right now, quietly racking up the losses despite scoring ok. At least we are consistent! One of the significant rounds was the spectacular 500 odd point defeat suffered by JOBBY. I think percentage will go a long way to deciding who goes down with popular pick Richo Richo Man. JOBBY's percentage to a hefty hit after the thrashing handed down by Farcallers. It could be the Scud is set up for this bye round and if he is he may be the only team in the nation and he might be able to get that percentage back as well as win this week. If he can't 4 wins probably won't be enough for JOBBY to escape the drop.

Have traded my arse off to gain a respectable mid-season ladder position and hopefully avoid relegation.

That's my first piece of luck all year but at the time I was a bit more worried about Jez and how the **** we were going to win that game. All good on both counts. You'll probably still win that's how bad my team is.

REB gets the win in the battle of the battlers, but there was some brown trouser times during the last game when Day went nuts and Humphrey spudded

It was time for the Roosters to crow in round 13 after they topped the scoring for the week and smashed the highly rated Far Callers combination. The Callers haven't got much wrong this season but they copped a drubbing from the sensational Roosters who kept their season alive with the commanding victory. Top ranked Ecky's Fevola starred yet again with Inner Sanctum the latest victims of the Fevs. Ecky has navigated the bye period really well in terms of scoring and will still be within reach of the top sides. He's also manage to win four out of four at the top during the byes and sometimes the top teams can be prone to dropping a match to unfancied opponents as Far Callers and George have shown this year.

I reckon the top six teams this year can prepare for finals. Poon is battling it out with the dual premiership winning Mediocre for that fourth spot and Hammo has a pretty tough run with his only bunny on the way in my REBCats. He might find it hard to hold on to that prized spot. Mediocre normally finishes well so not the team to have looking over your shoulder at this time of year. At this stage Sanctum and the Captain are holding down a spot in the eight and even though their form hasn't been great, there doesn't appear to be much of a sustained challenge from the next tier of teams. Of the group immediately below, only the Roosters, and less convincingly the REBCats managed to salute last week. When Rohan knocked out Cameron, he knocked out FISH as well for a vital win to the battling Cats.

The bottom two sides managed to record a win, with Richo's first success for many weeks. JOBBY also got up which wasn't a good set of results for Hondo who fell short of Summer of George. Richo's big win over Chops was an opportunity lost by them as everyone has been cleaning up Richo for weeks but Richo turned up to play against the Clotters (hey I thought that only happened to me). Still reckon Richo is in trouble but lets see how he goes this week...if he's back then Clots and Hondo are in the hot seat. Based on this season the teams who look the most vulnerable get up and have a win which keeps rising the price of admission to the Premier League in 2024, something I find highly annoying struggling along at 5-8.

Back up to 15th (from 18th) this week and caught up a little to the top team but I feel like I'm just hanging in there - basically all the other top teams have better teams than me on paper and I'm just one poor week from having my chances ended.

Felt like I needed to try something a bit unique so traded in Brad Crouch last week which worked so far but am basically relying on players like him and Redman (my most uniques) to average 20pts or so higher than the more fancied players I don't have like Laird from now on - and the chances of that are quite low!

Also interesting that the top 3 teams and 4 of the top 6 don't have English! They are relying on Briggs for now (another I missed which stuffed up my rookie cash generation) but may trade him for English soon if they have enough trades left.

All hands on deck then as most of the better sides in Hogg Premier having a full compliment of scorers back in their team. Three teams went over 2600 this week with the Sharks the most impressive of these who dismissed Poon Army even though hambone carded a pretty decent score himself. The Sharks advanced to the top four at Poon's expense in what is Spiro's strongest challenge in Hogg Premier. Wild HORNEY Berry was another to crack 2600 and they made light work of a Captain Who side that has gone off the boil. Ecky of course was doing Ecky things and he got 2600 as well. Poor old FISH copped a hiding by the ladder leader as they dropped back a match from the eight.

Mediorcre replaced George in the top four after the back to back champions made mincemeat of minnow team REBCats. George has looked wobbly in recent weeks and they dropped another match this week, this time against top eight Inner Sanctum. The biggest threats to the top eight are DAISYDUDS who have copped a ridiculous amount of points against and Roosters who can be very good on their day.

One of the most important matches of the round was Hondo up against JOBBY. Hondo has never been relegated since forcing his way into the Premier League and he secured the vital win against fellow battlers JOBBY. With Richo and Clots getting done, Hondo scrambled away from the relegation zone in what was a very tightly fought match.

A month out from finals and we might have the top eight sorted already. On current form I'd say DAISY for George but DAISY has left his run very late and he is one loss away from missing out. Ecky is the definite front runner but Far Callers, Sharks and Mediocre (again) are all strong challengers. The relegation situation is far from settled. Richo and REBCats are dragging the arse with scoring and Richo is in real bother as he needs to win perhaps two of is last four to escape. There are still a couple of matchups to decide who goes down but boy mob will go awful close to this. I've had a Barry Crocker.

Thanks for pointing out the points against REB, bloody stiff this year I reckon, 3rd highest points for but every other team has the best game whenever they play me. Still have trades so hoping to sneak into the 8 and anything can happen. Can set my season up by knocking off Far Callers this week and then my draw opens up a bit but as I've seen all year, the guys struggling will no doubt score 2500 when they play me.

The top eight may be set already after eighth ranked Wild HORNEY Berry smashed my inept REBCats and got themselves a massive percentage booster that ninth ranked Roosters will find hard to match. Roosters and Delicious will hang their hats on the fact that three games remain but they have to be one win ahead of HORNEY to qualify and things are getting tight on that score.

No such worries for top side Ecky’s Fevolas who scored something of a changing of the guard victory over the back to back premiers Mediocre at Best. While Mediocre doesn’t always rack up the minor round wins the fact that this is a late season win by Ecky makes it look like the threepeat might not be a thing in Hogg Premier. A 105 point margin suggests Feenix has some work to do to bridge that gap.

Far Callers has emerged as a Grand Final threat after DAISY correctly predicted that he would score a massive score against him. All the Cats’ at DAISY’s house must be worried as it would be most tempting to kick the cat after he once again scored a top score and lost. This loss was possibly fatal to his chances and he will be one coach who hopes HORNEY goes soft.

Summer of George and Sharks remain in the top four but only after wins over struggling sides. The Sharks in particular were lucky as they only held off 17th ranked Clots in what was something of a heartbreaker for them. Inner Sanctum also had a narrow win over a struggling side while other finals hope Poon Army made light work of the Captain who has suddenly lost his way.

Things are getting desperate in the relegation battle with three weeks to play. There are five sides in the gun at the moment, of which sadly my REBCats are one. The Cats had a good percentage but two successive massive losses to top eight sides has seen that early season advantage dwindle away. At this stage it is the teams with the worst percentage on four wins that are in the gun with Richo in particular paying for a poor run earlier in the year that decimated his percentage. He may need two more wins in three weeks to stay up. Hondo has been scoring better in recent weeks but can’t quite seem to get the win while JOBBY is scoring about as well as the REBCats at the minute. Id say REBCats, JOBBY and Richo are the main threats to relegation, with Choppy to play REBCats in a vital match in two weeks.

REB

Still have trades so hoping to sneak into the 8 and anything can happen. Can set my season up by knocking off Far Callers this week and then my draw opens up a bit but as I've seen all year, the guys struggling will no doubt score 2500 when they play me.

Even I scored against you LOL. While I deserve to be where I am you certainly don't. I'll make sure I wave you goodbye when my sorry arse gets relegated 8)

I dont think ive seen a season like it, i have comfortably had the most scored against me in the whole league whilst being the 3rd top scorer myself. Will need a miracle to make the 8 now, have a tough one this week vs Delicious before on paper, two easy games to finish but no doubt they will have their highest scores of the year

Gonna be a tough weekend for some with Dunkley, Serong, Lloyd, Sheldrick, Young, Grundy, Oliver, BSmith, Ridley, DCameron either OUT or under a cloud.

Hopefully JCameron will be back to kick a bag at home against Essendon.

The Run Home

Here's how the winners (and losers) are shaping up in the last three weeks of the minor round. Selections in bold.

1. Ecky’s Fevolas 56 (Wild HORNE Berry, Poon Army, Chops Clots)
Ecky deserves to start favourite in all three of these but the next two aren’t easy. I reckon they win the lot and win the minor premiership. Points – 68 Position – 1

2. The Far Callers 48 (Sharks, Captain Who, REBCats)
The Callers will win all three to retain second spot. This week’s match against Sharks is a beauty but it gets easier on the way in to the finals. A chance to preserve trades in the last round. Points 60 Position – 2

3. Sharks 40 (The Far Callers, Delicious, Hondo Crows SCC)
Don’t think Spiro can get the Callers this week but should go on and win two more. This would leave the Sharkies with a first up final against the Callers again. Points 48 Position - 3

4. Summer of George 40 (TEAM_FISH, Roosters, Mediocre at Best)
Georgie boy looks the most vulnerable of the teams currently in the top four and I reckon he only wins one of his last three to eventually miss out. Points 44 Position - 6

5. Poon Army 36 (REBCats, Eckys Fevolas, Inner Sanctum)
Poon has the percentage advantage over George with this likely to increase as he will get closer to Ecky than REBCats will get to Poon. If Hammo can roll Sanctum in the last round he gets into the top four and I reckon he does so. Points 44 Position - 4

6. Mediocre at Best 36 (Inner Sanctum, Team FISH, Summer of George)
I reckon that Mediocre will drop one of the next two and win two of these games. Good enough to win all three but I don’t think it will turn out that way. Points 44 Position - 5

7. Inner Sanctum 36 (Mediocre at Best,Wild HORNE Berry, Poon Army)
It’s too tight to be backing any of these sides for three out of three against each other so I reckon Sanctum gets two as well. Might not necessarily be Mediocre but can’t see Sanctum winning the lot here. Points 40 Position - 8

8. Wild HORNE Berry 32 (Eckys Fevolvas, Inner Sanctum, TEAM_FISH)
Two wins for HORNEY if they can knock off Sanctum. A match up with Eckys is most unwelcome for anyone at this stage of the year. Points 40 Position - 7

9. Roosters 28 (JOBBY the GOAT, Summer of George, Richo Richo Man )
A couple of winnable games for the Chooks but will need to beat George to make the eight, not sure they get the job done. Points 36 Position - 9

10. Delicious 28 (DAISYSDUDS, Sharks, Captain Who)
Not liking Delicious in the next two so no grand final appearance this season. Will finish with a consolation win over the Captain. Points 32 Position - 11

11. Captain Who? 28 (Chops Clots, The Far Callers, Delicious)
Can only see one more win for the Captain here and the Clots won’t be a pushover either based on recent form. Wouldn’t back them with your money against the Callers but some chance against valleys. Not this year. Points 28 Position - 13

Relegation Battle 2023

14 REBCats 20 (Poon Army, Chops Clots, The Far Callers)
My team is shot and will drop the lot. It won’t be easy trying to defend my dwindling percentage against this lot. A very real chance to wave you all goodbye. Points 20 Position -15

15 Hondo Crows SCC 16 (Richo Richo Man, DAISYS DUDS, Sharks)
Not that happy that Hondo hasn’t played Richo yet. He will win that game and slip by me on percentage. ****. Points 20 Position – 14

16 JOBBY the Goat 16 (Roosters, Richo Richo Man, DAISYS DUDS)
Bewdy. JOBBY gets Richo as well. Not looking good. However JOBBY has been scoring about as well as me lately so Richo might salute…sheesh I hope. Points 16 – Position 18

17 Chops Clots 16 (Captain Who?, REBCats, Eckys Fevolas)
I won’t be the only one who hopes Richo gets the job done against JOBBY. Any percentage gain Clots would get by playing me will be erased by a last round clash against the might Ecky. He escapes….just . Points 20 Position – 16

18 Richo Richo Man 16 (Hondo Crows, JOBBY the GOAT, Roosters)
Can’t see Richo escaping the drop due to that poor percentage but they can avoid the spoon by knocking off JOBBY. Absolutely crucial round in two weeks time. Points 20 – Position 17

The battle for the top eight tightened right up in Round 16 as five of the top eight all got rolled in what was carnage for SuperCoaches across the land. The top two sides escaped pretty much unharmed as they carded wins against fellow top eight contenders but perhaps the big winner was Mediocre at Best who won a hard fought match against Inner Sanctum that gave them the inside running on the double chance. Perhaps the threepeat is back on after all.

The two top eight sides that really failed to flatter were Summer of George who were upset by TEAM_FISH and in an even bigger upset the struggling REBCats turned around some ordinary recent form to roll the fancied Poon Army whose top four credentials were badly damaged. Roosters and DAISYS DUDS are two teams that will be happy with the way the results turned out with both sides right back in finals contention. Captain Who has been lost at sea in recent weeks but they hit back as well and they are back in town as well.

The relegation battle took a decisive turn with the heat right on Chops Clots and Richo Richo Man who currently occupy the hot seat. Richo look to be in real trouble especially with that poor percentage. They were rolled by an equally desperate Hondo who skipped four points clear of the drop. JOBBY is another side who are struggling at the moment and they were well beaten by the Roosters so the heat is still right on for the scud man. REBCats probably look safe now with six wins and a reasonable percentage.

Two to go folks!

Laird out keeps my small chances for the 50k alive for another week, currently 11th with no trades left but probably the most unique team of the top 20 and 23 sort-of premiums to play with this week so I'll have fun with up to 4 loops to do some sneaky tricks and hopefully one will pay off.
