The two sides, based on ages not form, will be markedly different apart from England's batting which could be almost identical if Pope regains his place.

Out for the Aussies IMO will be Warner, Khawaja, Smith (will retire this summer), Hazelwood, probably Starc, Bolland and Head. Barring injury, I think Lyon will still be there.

The English bowling will be completely different too. Tongue and maybe Robinson the only one who played this series who might be there

Will the faster and truer pitches help the English batting or will the extra pace find out the techniques? Will the bigger ovals be harder to defend 4's, but see some of those sixes on small ovals be catches?

So pretty much Bazball dominated the Ashes and if not for rain Manchester would have won the thing.

Test cricket is changed.

Australia should have been 3-0 nil up, had the poms 6/171 chasing 251 with No 8 & 9 at the crease.

Nah that doesn't work coz you could say England most definitely should have won the first test if not for the Cummins/Lyon partnership and Roots very generous declaration (which will be part of the refinement of bazball)

We’ve just had the most gruelling schedule imaginable, it means we’re 4 years away from having to repeat the process, we can beat up on sides now and finish up with immaculate averages.

Boland will be 36.5 when the series starts, Hazelwood will be 34-35 and I think will succumb to injuries by then, combined with Cummins being 32, Lyon 38, Starc 35-36 but probably retired, we will have had a transition in our bowling attack by then. Head to me is one bad series and a change in thought by different selectors, from being dropped.

There was just something in Smith's mannerisms and the way he got out in the last few Tests which make me think his skills and eye have started to decline.

But England didn't win the 1st Test, or the 2nd Test. At this point Australia had already won the first 2 Tests and had a big chance to go 3 nil up.

Not sure all of it's on the captain.
The bowling plans put together by the coach were terrible.

It seems to me building pressure by making the batter think has gone out the window.
Fields were set to shut bowling.
A deep point first over is negative and gives an easy single every time. So pressure is relieved.
