Saturday Stroke Round (Monthly Medal/Qualifying)

Played pretty well, although i tabled 3 doubles. (1 x OB, 1 x In the drink and 3 putted) off set them a bit with 3 Birdies

Finished nett 72, thought I'd be midfield not 3rd. Highest rank nett 70, the 71, myself with 72
Course played +3.0 I've never seen 3, 1 heaps of times, 2 sometimes, but never 3

Handicap match starts this Saturday. Keen as....

I'm in Perth all week, which means no practice.

Mad rush today
Finished work, hour drive home to get changed and off to course.
Booked in for last group.
Saw a cart I recognised that was 2 groups ahead on booking sheet and had 12mins to spare.
Then they came and got me as I was heading around to the 10th as there was a mix up on groups

So Par it was. Can't remember the last time I played Par.
Front 9 -2.
On the 11th hit an ok drive to bottom of path. Hit a wedge and never saw it
Greens were quicker again today than Sunday
Back 9 just couldn't score. They would have all been 1 pointers.
Hit a cracking drive on 8. 5w pushed it into trees. Finished behind a tree and hacked up to the green for a wipe. Such a waste.

Finished -8

Overcast conditions and a sprinkle of precipitation twice during the round.
Changed out the 25yr old clubs after Wednesday for the 8yr ones.

Driver off the tee was more than handy.
PW little chip and runs were very good.
Putting on front 9 was good for me.
Made the turn with 21 points
Then it all started to fall apart. Bad lie on 11th, caught against the shrub near the bunker. Playing partners are all saying to take relief as you get preferred lies etc but I like to play it as it lies...
Finished off with 17 on the back 9 and 38pts overall. Certainly didn't see that coming.

Off to the Pat tomorrow

PAT this morning in pleasant conditions, albeit overcast

After having the Driver working fairly reliably it decided to be all over the place today.
Irons were pull hooks
Putting was ok, but I just never hit them hard enough... never adjusted to the slower greens compared to those at Flaggy at the minute.
Played off 11 for 34points

Lost on the 23rd hole! Yep, 23rd

I birdied the 1st and the 4th basically held that 2up lead all day, we both Parred the 8th (he gets a shot on it, therefore lost the hole), I won the 9th back to 2up, basically halved the next 7 holes, I then had to give shots on 16 and 17, to his credit he birdied 16 back to 1 up, I had a birdie putt on 17 to maintain the lead, but i missed the putt we both Parred the hole therefore a loss and back to square both parred 18, back to the first (19th) both get par, then to the 17th (20th) both par, 18th (21st) again he was in for bogey and i had a 4-5 foot par putt to win and left it short! ](*,) back to the 1st (22nd) we both birdie then 17th again, he sunk a 10-12 foot putt for birdie and was 4 foot from the hole for par.

Cracking game, it was match play, therefore we didn't keep score, just tracked holes won and lost, i lost 4-5 holes for the round but lost overall, that's the way match plays goes. after 9 holes i was 1 under the card, yet only 2 up

Love matchplay
No good at it but enjoy the mind games and banter that goes with it.
Sounds like you both played better than your handicaps.

Ducked up to Stirling yesterday.
Peaceful day out on the course.
Started off nicely. But I forgot despite it being short there are certain places you need to be deadly accurate... which wasn't my forte yesterday. Was a little boggy In patches which is to be expected. And being wet certainly did make the course longer.
Back up there in a few weeks.

Despite only being a par 67, IMO it’s got the best layout for a public course going around.

Why did you give him a shot on 17? I thought in Australia the matchplay index is different to the course index. Usually in matchplay hole 8 is always index 1, 12 index 2 and 4 and 16 being 3 and 4? Idea to spread out the shots given throughout the round
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Ended 29pts. Felt like I played a little better than that.

Willunga yesterday. Course in good condition and not as boggy as I expected given the downpour on early Tuesday morning.
Hit the ball ok, but still those greens get me in trouble.

Flaggy this morning for stroke. 7th out of play at minute so the 1 1/2 hole is in play. Just couldn't get anything going... stuck in bunker on the 13th  on par 3 for an 8. Ended up with a nice round 100
