In terms of knockout finals in that time, North have won two to Port's nil. That's what I find unfathomable in terms of Kenny being extended.

Why only 8 years, I mean aren't you talking about Ken's tenure after all?

Kenny's numbers are slightly less mediocre if you include his whole tenure, yes. I used the 8-year period referred to by Dutchy. (Ken's been there so long it does get a bit confusing!!)

Just strikes me as weird that a bloke with Kenny's record in big matches, particularly in recent years, would get extended for a 12th and 13th season.

Wouldn't be contentious to suggest that Ken can't really take Port further, and that after 11 seasons the message has perhaps gone a tad stale and it's time to for change.

He's got 2 years because you can't give him one.
They couldn't not re-sign him cause they're going so well this year.
The strain will come if they go out in straight sets this year then start poorly next year
If that happens he'll be gone in June.

I was keen for him to move on at the end of last year. But it's a bit hard to flick a bloke when his side finishes in the top 4 with the possibility of still finishing 2nd. Bit of a Travis Head, 1st Test in India scenario - you have to pick a bloke who's in form, not leave him out based on previous results.
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.

How many home and away wins for each side?

From a quick look Port have had 52 more wins than us in the same period
Same number of Premiership's too! [emoji6]

IIRC, a couple more Minor Premierships though.

They're very important (to Port)

What makes people think Josh Carr is going to be the saviour? What if his a flop? From the outside looking in, the players seem to love Ken, he seems a father figure to most. Yes, Josh Carr seem unanimously loved by all, I loved the way he played but does that make him a great coach?

None of us know the inside runnings, yet posters on here seem to think they know everything about the runnings of clubs.

Regardless of if supporters like it or not, the AFL is now a business and i'll back Kochie to make the best business decisions for our club. I've been frustrated at times with what seems like Kens' lack of plan B, but again we never know what's going on behind closed doors.

PS- Comparing us to Nth Melbourne, Pfft please give me a spell.....

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

It actually was the truth, the timeline mentioned isn’t in doubt at all.
I think deep down most Port supporters I’ve spoken too, (and I speak to plenty daily) aren’t happy Ken’s been given at least 2 more years…

At the end of the day, most if not all coaching contracts have a 6 month payout max regardless of the length of contract remaining, so Port can flip him anytime they like

Who would have replaced him anyway ?

Was it a case of no one better available so they decided to keep him?

Is that a business decision though? Kenny's contract was up. I.e. you didn't need to assess the merits business-wise of paying him out, Wouldn't a contact extension of a coach be a footballing decision?

Kochie seems to have been copping a lot of flak for this, and it's not hard to see why.

17 sets of opposition supporters are pretty comfortable with Ken remaining at Port...

Be interesting when port play Brisbane first final. Don't want to be playing the Bulldogs or Carlton the following week in Adelaide and go put out in straight sets. 3rd place is a bad spot if u playing Brisbane at their fortress.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.
