Because of the huge excitment being generated I thought I better put up a fixture. Anyone have any idea of the potential form this year?
I know at the start of last season it was pretty common knowledge Melb, Bris and then Adelaide would be the contenders but I haven't heard much this year.

Sunday, September 3

I can't say much about the other teams, but here's my early thoughts on the Pear.

Port's inclusions this season of Saint up forward (previously Woodland) and Tilly Scholz to ruck are a couple of great ins.
We struggled in ruck last year and Scholz looks good. Only 18 so might take a bit of time to find her feet but early signs are positive, and Saint is a proven performer having won the coleman* previously while at the Crows.

Interestingly we seem to have gone very top heavy this week, bringing those two in, but also retaining Houghton, Teakle and Levicki. That means 4 out of the 5 forwards named are all talls. Mules will have plenty of work to do if the ball hits the ground. Sachi Syme missing through suspension obviously has left the cupboard a little bare for small forward options.

The good thing about having a few tall options up forward it is has released Erin to go back into the midfield.
She'll have plenty of work to do, especially given Moloney also misses this round with suspension, Yorston is taking the year off and we said goodbye to Spud Surman over the offseason.

The fact that O'Dea and Tahau are named on the bench, and were two of our best players last season, would suggest our squad has gotten considerably stronger, however the flip side to that is MacLachlan seemed to struggle last year but has made the round 1 side.

For mine the Crows will be too strong for us tomorrow, Chels to dominate again, however it shouldn't be all doom and gloom, and I'd expect us to have a much stronger performance in our second season, with the girls a legitimate chance to play finals with a little bit of luck.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Thanks Trader, great info. I'll see them soon enough as I got tickets to the Power v Geelong game a couple of weeks ago for Sept 23 in Booney's old haunt the Bowling Club. Looking forward to it. Paid a littlle extra on top of my club membership this year to show my support for the girls.
Got a bit of a soft spot for the Power as I'm a huge Erin Phillips fan.

Ruck and key forward posts were our biggest deficiencies last year so absolutely agree, Saint and the debutant Scholz both look to be exactly what we were after. Saint and Houghton forward looks to be a strong 1-2 key forward set up, Cuthbertson adding to the back half strength of Ballard and Borg and I like Phillips back in the middle. Fully fit after a strong pre season we need her in the middle to add some class to the clearances Moloney won but didn't use to full effect.

Captains run tonight, might wander around and kick off the weekend pint-a-thon there.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

Strong second half by the Crows, the Power gave it a real shake in the 2nd quarter but probably don't have the same fitness level as the Crows.
Is that 5/5 for the Crows against the Power this year?
Ken's 5 nil meme might be getting another run.

Good win by the Cats girls 10.5 to 2.5.
Enjoying these changes with longer quarters and shorter breaks.

Cracking game at GMHBA Stadium tonight. North Melbourne came back from 3 goals down at half time to win by 9 points.
Standard has gone up several notches this season.
Looking forward to seeing Port v Geelong next week live at Alberton from the bowling club.

The first bounce of the AFLW clash between GWS and Richmond has been delayed due to a snake on the oval.
