The result is to be expected. I spent 5 minutes watching the match during the 1st quarter and lost count of how many times a Sturt player would handball to a teammates feet. Went back to spraying the weeds...

Enjoy, best team all year and better team today - doesn’t always fall that way in the GF though. Enjoy tiggers!

Congrats to the Tiges.. deserved premiers. Took some balls to appoint Reeves, who no doubt was up against more high profile candidates..

Happily stand corrected if anyone else tuning in thought the atmosphere was amazing.

As for the crowd, it was disappointing. They hoped for 40,000 and fell short.

Was expecting a bigger crowd but the atmosphere was ok. It was a scrappy game, we didn’t really give them a sniff of winning all game which hurts the atmosphere a bit. I think since covid GF crowds have been down, what was last years? Might not see 40k again now.

Felt like the contest was over very early, your midfield had every answer and the pressure up at the ball carrier had them rattled. Your defence wouldn't have been too tired at half time.

Disappointing crowd and zero atmosphere.

That’s what happens when thousands of free tickets are given away to mostly neutral supporters to help fill the stadium.
The game and players just appear to be going through the motions.

Disagree they throw out the same amount of free tickets every GF, nothing new.

I was there and there was bugger all atmosphere in the western stand.
Hardly anyone even clapping or cheering, it was so bizarre.
I go the GF every year and normally theres a great atmosphere and feel about the game.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I was wondering the same thing about the crowds as to whether they just haven't come back since COVID.
Last year's crowd was 27,459 but remember it was shocking weather which must have kept a lot of people away. Today was the first real test as to whether crowds have come back after Covid.
North vs Norwood in 2018 was 40,355, Glenelg vs Port in 2019 was 39,105, Sturt vs Port in 2017 was 39,813 and Port vs Norwood in 2014, 38,444.
I was expecting 40,000 today. Would have the warm weather kept some people away?
Even though the winning margin was 24 points, as a neutral I never thought Sturt were a threat. It felt like an 8 goal game and that would certainly have impacted the atmosphere.

I think it’s a bit of a worry. We generally have big crowds in the minor rounds when we play each other as well. Couldn’t ask for a much better day, possibly hot weather kept a few away but I wouldn’t have thought too many. I think and happy to be corrected if other people disagree Norwood probably have a slightly larger supporter base, Sturt, Glenelg and North would be about the same. Centrals not far away and then you have Westies and the Eagles. Not sure about South but suspect they actually might have a few turn up if they can make one. Might have to wait a few more years to know for sure but not great signs for the future.
