Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Drummo’s Driver Fitting.

Hit a few warm ups on the sim. 8 irons, then a few with my 25 year old Taylor Made.

Spoke to the bloke about hitting it a bit lower off the tee.

Set me up with the Taylor Made Sim 2. Hit everything all day with a draw/hook. Not one fade.

Then he handed me the Callaway Paradym. Hit it better than the Sim 2.

Finally I tried the Taylor Made Stealth 2. Overall think the set up here suited me best. The bloke from Drummo’s set the club up with a fade bias ( weight into the toe) and dialled the lift back to 7 degrees…. At least that’s what I thought he said it was. Which is like a putter loft!!

So it really came down to a choice between the Callaway and the Stealth. By this stage I think I would have hit 80-90 drives. I was stuffed!

End result is I will go back next Saturday fresh hit 20 or 30 with each and pick what’s giving me the most consistent shape.

I was happy that my swing speed was super consistent, however my outside to inside swing was quite pronounced.

A group of blokes in the 2 bays next to me on a bucks day. On the sauce at 10.00am. Fair play lads!

Havent heard a bad thing about the Paradym, Stealth seems more popular though.

51 off the stick on the back 9 at the Vines last night, really struggling, going to have to hit the range and hit a heap of balls. At least the hcap will slide out for the start of the Sevens comp.

Vines have shut down the 17th (not sure why no evidence of repairs/reno) and now have the small par 3 16.5 as a replacement hole, just a 95m punch.

Only highlights were a getting inside 10 feet for a birdie putt on 13 after 3 solid shots...then 3 putted  had a par on 14 and another birdie chance left short on 16 but tap in par - rest was horrendous!

There are some good reviewers of clubs etc on youtube. Just have to make sure who sponsors them!!

Flaggy yesterday morning
8pts front 9. Just ridiculously pathetic. 13 on the back was better.
Putting was seized
Bunker play was horrid, either stuck in there or clipped it cleanly 40m away

Didn't get to play today, bloody work

Saturday at Lady bay- Stroke Monthly medal

Opened Par, Par 2 ways to look at that, Yep great start or the other angle is, sh!t it can only get worse from here! On the turn felt like i was playing really well, yet i had 43 on the front. I did have 2 out of the bunker on 5 it was a fried egg, 3 putt on the par 3 6th and put one in the water on 7 (a horror 3 hole stretch) but felt like i was actually playing well.

Come in with 39 on the back, highlighted by back to back birdies on 13 and 14. My god that 12th hole is tough in to the breeze, 17th would have to be one of the longest par 3's around.

Nett 73 finished 2 for the day.

As i stated, the course is literally in the best condition i've ever seen it and i've played it a heap of times.

Scored a birth in the Glenelg Football Club Golf Day friday- Free Pi55, Golf will be the secondary reason i will be on course :D

Twilight last night- Stableford 18 points.

Just played ok, i guess it was bloody windy tho.

2x Bogeys for 1 Point (1 x 3putt and the other a poor second shot) but parred both holes i get a shot on for 3 points each.

Defiantly keen for tomorrow's golf day.

Wednesday popped down to driving range to try a few things. And as expected hit n miss.
Twilight last night, tried it on first hole and massive block so put it away.
Wiped first 3 holes and them went par, par, par, bogey almost made the par putt then wheels fell off

Popped down for a hit in the nets and muck about the chipping green and all of a sudden just hit everything solidly. But the mat probably helped that

Par tomorrow and Victor Sunday

Who knows what's in store

Flaggy this morning for Par.

The few hits in the nets were nothing like yesterday and as such confidence was low.
Started on 10th and scrubbed, birdied the 11th. Then just battled for-1 after 9. Probably should have been +1.
Back 9, started with a birdie on 1st and from there the game deteriorated.
The $8 5w got a last minute call up this morning and all things considered it performed alright. Used it mainly off the tee.
Bunker play was horrid. One hit the lip and rolled back and 2 I clipped cleanly  and goneski
The most ridiculous shot was on 17th.
Literally ball on edge of fairway/bunker. Had to hit a 60° standing alongside it basically facing the flag  anyway chipped it like seve to within 8inches. Couldn't do that again if I tried

Back 9 finished off with -6
Monster drive on 8th was just sublime and the 2nd highlight behind the chip.

Surely it's due to click

Horror show continued last night at Vines, front 9 for 11 pts, this time the irons were off, Driver found some touch which was the only highlight. Back there for 18 tomorrow.
