And wins today.... without a cent on

Brilliant run, last on the turn and blows them away. Will be favourite now to win back to back Melbourne Cups.

That was taken from TAB.com.au but I did have it at the local and yes, it paid $27k.

A New Zealand punter is celebrating an incredible NZ$10m collect after correctly predicting the entire finishing order of The Everest.

The punter, who wished to remain anonymous, was the sole winner of the promotion run by the New Zealand TAB.

The successful punter said he "didn't put too much thought" into his picks after seeing the promotion online.

The odds of correctly picking the finishing order for all 12 horses in the race was 1 in 479,001,600.

Saturday's $20m race was won by Joe Pride's Think About It won the race in stunning fashion with Peter Moody's I Wish I Win finishing second.

Private Eye, also trained by Pride, finished third.

The competition was available to all NZ TAB account holders, with the monster payout covered by insurance.

“I’m absolutely blown away," the punter said.

"I saw the promotion on the TAB site and thought I’d give it a crack. I didn’t put too much thought into my picks and just dropped the runners where I thought it could go.

"I honestly could not believe I’d won it. I actually thought it was a hoax when they first rang me – I called the TAB back, and it took quite a lot of convincing before it sank in! To have pulled it off, winning $10 million in a free to play competition, is truly incredible for my family and I.”
PAFC. Forever.

Love hearing stories like this, especially when it's one of the SAF tribe, thats awesome mate, way to go, I dream of shit like that lol.

I'm pretty sure I used all my luck for a month or more on Saturday in what became an unexpectedly eventful day ..

Started the day well, winner of the 1st at Caulfield and 1st at Randwick was glorious, but short lived after they were followed by 4 consecutive 2nd's and 2 x 3rd's on the bounce. By now I'm starting to think it's just not going to be my day.

After these, nature called suddenly and I almost got caught short and in my haste to get there in time, I dropped my phone in the shitter #-o ... Somehow it fell horizontally and wedged between the sides of the bowl jut millimetres above the water. Once retrieved I sat there gloriously revelling at my business and change of fortune in having my phone saved.

By this stage my TAB account was looking good, but Sportsbet had been through the wars, so I chucked another $60 in it and commenced with a $10 bet on Jenkins in Adelaide which thankfully saluted - My balance was showing $0 though so I pannicked that I hadnt deposited and bet successfully (the ol memory not what it once was). As it so happened I'd inadvertently put the entire $60 on Jenkins for a return of $570. Despite fixing it at $9.50 2 mins before the scheduled jump, it ended up paying $18 which was a brief source of disappointment, before I decided to focus on the very fortuitous collect I'd had.

Winners for the day included:
Rousseau @ $6 (place)
Front Page @ $5.50
Land Legend @ $5.50
Almighty Class @ $10
Jenkins @ $9.50
Renaissance Woman @ $6.50
Griff @ $34/$7
The Map @ $2.40
Ayrton @ $5
Mishani Suspect @ $15
Maktoob @ $8

Plenty of losing bets too, but enough in the above to be nicely infront.

Then given both TAB and Sportsbet had promos for Melton, thought I'd have a crack there which worked so I had a few more, winners for the Trots included:

Amami @ $15
Helluva @ $6.50
Rakero Rebel @ $61
Petracca @ $3
Act Now @ $51

So thats probably my luck dusted for the entirety of Spring if not remaining 2023.

That's awesome @JK.

There is a bit of a backstory to the bet itself.

I was at the local pub and I had to pick my daughter up at 5.15 from work. The 10th race was coming up and I didn't see the race on the screen till I was just about to leave. I saw the 3 was favourite and the 6 was second favourite, put the 7 & 8 in for giggles, put the ticket in and took off. I knew the 3 was Amelia's Jewel but I had no idea of the other numbers. So, I was in the car listening to the race and heard Amelia's Jewel floundering. I thought 'oh well' then heard the results, 7, 6 and a photo between 8 & 15. My guernsey number was 15, so I normally back that. But because of my rush, I didn't even know a 15 was in the race. Then the result came through.

Pure ar$e.

But I'll take it. $5677 collect. That'll pay for a few things around the house and the Melb Cup carnival shennanigans.

What could've been though - the P4 paid $330k on Pointsbet - and if i was in the pub I might've just thrown the 15 in.

Mate the old Punters curse means we can find every conceivable millimeter of luck to against us, love hear stories about those rare occasions someone ends up or the right side of the ledger, brilliant stuff mate!! I remembered you were a 15 man because when you first mentioned it I thought that’s trippy as, and I recall it every time I glance over a #15 in a race lol.

Hahahahaha after hitting Attrition in the last at Caulfield I also had a nibble at Melton. Only got Petracca though. That Act Now win was huge but you look at the form and there was a case to back it for sure. Awesome.

Yeah huge finish from Act Now, probably helped that the favourite had to burn petrol early and race probably wasn't run to suit for the more fancied runners. My theory was that at a good meet like that, all runners are going to be pretty decent, so where possible try to find the right value. I have little idea about the Trots but seem to do ok on them when I have a dip.

Some obvious money on Sioux but that ran 4l second after doing some work early last start. Hopefully ours can hold it out for long enough. We are also down in weight. I boosted it to 4.60 and it's now 4.80 and on the slide.
