Bancroft has 500 runs in the shield this season, but I actually agree.. neither of those three strike excitement.

Surely there's some young prodigy out there that can be plucked from obscurity.
Pucovski was the hope but he is one more concussion away from being spoon fed for the remainder of his life unfortunately.
Khawaja will finish up after the Indian tour here next summer IMO so we are absolutely stuffed if we can’t find two openers in the next 12 months.

Stats are stats and you have to recognise that, but if there is a debate about who is best, you have to remember who those other guys played against. Has Warner faced the same attacks as the others?

BTW, I was surprised that M Waugh only averaged 41.

Yeah, I felt that he played on a bit too long, the 334* helped him out, he had a huge form slump but put together a few scores late 97 onwards, I think it was more of the fact that being captain he would always play the ODI’s too where he’d manage 37 off 110.

Junior never scored a double, he was too flamboyant and chancey, I’m not sure that anyone has been better to watch than him in full flight, he had all the shots, arrogance and self belief

Not the best batsman in his family?

PS: I heard someone used that on Dean Waugh in district cricket here: Even he laughed

Really shows that SS is the best breeding ground, and more emphasis should be placed on SS in general - i'ts so hard to sustain form over multiple seasons unlike yesteryear when guys churned out runs for fun.

Interesting that 3 wickets of the 4 wickets today have been bowled, not sure why we are batting on here, get them in and have a real dip

To keep them out there for as long as possible and grind them into the dirt, especially being the first test of the series. I reckon Pakistan would do the same if they were batting.

On the radio Rick Finlay said the last five wicket haul on debut (debuting while playing in Australia) was Josh Hazlewood, 5/68 v India in 2014.
