First game this season. Really an ordinary exhibition of cricket in general. I know I'm old school, but in a game of cricket, I like watching a battle between bat and ball. I realised that I was at the wrong venue very early on.

The bowling on both sides was ordinary

Once the Stars first powersurge was done it was game over

F*** Manetti bowled some pies and the skill execution by agar and Beazley was inconsistent at best. Some good dot balls but the fullies on leg FMD!

How has Dizzy Beveridge assembled such a dog poop bowling lineup?

Blow up the list and start again

The batting was mostly exceptional
The bowlers had a difficult task on a flat pitch and short square boundaries

4/205 Adelaide Strikers [20]
3/211 Melbourne Stars [19]

426 runs off 39 overs =run rate of 10.66

Question Ambays
Cameron Boyce 1/15 [4]
Was his bowling ordinary ?

Not that it means anything now in hindsight but I can’t say that I was too thrilled with Lynn in the 20th over, I found him to be a bit self exuberant.

Overton was striking well enough and Lynn hit the ball to cover on the 2nd ball of the over while he needed 24 runs off of 5 balls, he immediately put his hand up to not run, the next ball was a dot too which meant the 100 was out of reach to which he seemed very disappointed.

I’m sure he’s scored enough tons in his career and the fact that he’s taking off before the season finishes suggests it’s all about Lynn.

Great striker of the ball, wonderful to watch in full flight but is there more to it as to why he hasn’t represented Australia more often?

Only have to look at how the Heat have performed since they got rid of him.
No name player comes to Adelaide on the way up, its a retirement franchise.
Matt Short the exception but he was a list filler to start with

Watching live he looked injured/restricted in his running numerous 2s were turned into 1s and 3s into 2s whilst he was out there, I thought.

Unlike the Stars who ran very well between wickets turnings 3s into 2s etc (save the run out).

Apart from Short I though the fielding of the Strikers lacked intensity.

Strikers old failures

Cam Boyce
Danny Briggs
Ben Dunk
Fawad Ahmed
Brad Hodge
Jon Holland
Mahela Jayawardene
Trent Lawford
Bryce McGain
Aaron O'Brein
Craig Simmons
Cameron White
Daniel Worrall
Can probably add Overton and Payne

Successful old strikers

Johan Botha
Michael Klinger
Ben Laughlin
Chris Lynn
Nathan Reardon
Peter Siddle
Jon Wells

Those that have had good careers at other franchises after the Strikers

Johan Botha
Callum Ferguson
Alex Hales
Colin Ingram
Chris Jordan
Michael Klinger
Nathan Lyon
Michael Neser
Adil Rashid
Matt Renshaw
Kane Richardson
Alex Ross
Phil Salt
Alfonso Thomas
Adam Zampa

Those that failed at other franchises after Strikers

Tom Andrews
Tom Cooper
Ben Dunk
Ben Laughlin
Tim Ludeman
Peter Siddle
Billy Stanlake
Shaun Tait
Jon Wells

Alot more talent going out than coming in as a rule.
Recruits are generally has beens that are too old.
