Looks like Bancroft isn't part of the boys club in the Aussie team.

The tears from Perth would melt steel beams, has been hilarious listening to some of the sooking.
They might only get 500 people attend the next test instead of the 600 who went last time :)

The identity of the new addition to Australia's Test outfit has been revealed, but mystery remains as to who will partner Usman Khawaja as David Warner's replacement at the top of the batting order in the upcoming two-match series against West Indies.

Matthew Renshaw has been named in Australia's 13-man squad for the NRMA Insurance Series that begins at Adelaide Oval on January 17, ending speculation as to which of the three front-running candidates would win the race for the vacancy created by Warner's Test retirement.

However, while Renshaw has edged out fellow Test-capped openers Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft for inclusion in the squad, it remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will partner his Queensland skipper Khawaja against the new ball next week.

In confirming Renshaw's recall, as well as seamer Scott Boland who was released from the Test squad in Sydney to play for Melbourne Stars in the BBL, national selection panel George Bailey indicated only that the "best six batters" would be deployed in the series opener at Adelaide Oval.

"Cameron Green will come into the playing XI for the Test in Adelaide in a squad also containing Scott Boland and Matthew Renshaw," Bailey said today. "We have selected a team we believe contains the best six batters in the country.

"Scott Boland and Matt Renshaw will join the squad prior to the first Test after playing for the Melbourne Stars (Jan 15) and Brisbane Heat (Jan 13) in the BBL."

Australia Test squad: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc.

Australia ODI squad: Steve Smith (c), Travis Head (vc), Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson, Matt Short, Adam Zampa.

The more I’ve thought about it the more I can see the move working (unless age has caught up with Smith)

In recent times the two areas I feel his been failing is his patience (as evidenced in the dismissal at cover against Pakistan) and the short ball.

By opening his less likely to get peppered with the short ball early with bowlers not willing to waste the new ball. At his absolute best Smith is patient and makes bowlers bowl to his areas. Absolutely no excuses for him at the top of the order, if he can get back to his patient best no reason he can’t make opening a success.

Ben Cameron on Twitter :

I feel greatly for Marcus Harris in all of this. Hasn’t been able to put up gaudy stats for the last year or two years because he’s been too busy mixing sports drink and running gloves as the next in line as part of Aus set up. Lost a little in the debates.

His last eight years in the Shield have returned an avg of 48 w/ 14 centuries from 64 matches. Also been prolific at County level with an average above 54. A century last time out vs a Test attack, Plus two years of loyal service waiting, helping.

Excellent take.

114 runs in 5 digs (HS 76) in his last test series - ave 23

He had his chance and then Khawaja took his.

He like Bancroft in 2019 were given opportunities to lock in a spot at the top of the order but it didnt pan out - thats sport at the sharp end.

Both at the age 32 they may have missed the last bus.

Number one rule of elite sport, it isn't fair.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Players that didnt make BBL

So do the ACB really take test cricket seriously ... We have a former powerhouse now struggling and we put together 11 players who make the numbers up. Whilst , were are not the only country to offer insipid teams as warm up games , maybe we take the stance and give our potential 2nd XI Australia team an opportunity.

It might affect a round of the BBL , but so be it .....

Come on you watch enough cricket

Not often a bowling team comes out with the new ball and doesn’t see what swing/seam is available for the first 5-10 overs

Pretty rare a team will come out with the new ball and go straight to the short pitch stuff.

He is poop at the top level, he’s had enough shots and proven he isn’t up to it, averages 25 and he’s coming up 32
