Flaggy this morning

Greens are nice and firm. On the quick side but nothing silly.

Front 9 - 16pts and wiped 2 holes
Back 9 - 22pts.

Putting was fairly good. Lipped a couple of par putts.

But upon enjoying a bevvy, scores in the 40s were rolling in

Morning all,

You summed it up well, 3 days in corporate boxes led to my down fall  Day 1 and 2 ended up at the Casino then Woolshed, Day 3 was the Strathmore then had a solid full days sleep! #-o

More importantly we started our Pennant season last Sunday so leading in to this i went and got a lesson on the Wednesday to ensure i was hitting the ball ok.
When getting a lesson he videos the lesson through his coaching app to highlight any issues you have with the swing plane, this particular lesson was an on course and was lucky enough to nail a hole in one (my first) and have it on video! Obviously not in a comp, but i'm certainly claiming it.

Pennants last week I won 5 and 4, this week i was 4 up after 8 holes and lost 1 down monumental choke! His back 9 was very good.

Hitting the ball pretty well at the minute.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Took 3 hours to play 9 at West Lakes yesterday. 3 ladies all over 65 playing their first ever round ahead of us. I counted 21 on a par 3 for one. Another played 5 shots before she moved her buggy. Didn't matter as ahead was just as slow, well, nearly.

Perfect storm though. Club had Match Play championships on in the morning and apparently they were taking 3 hours to play 9 themselves and it just rolled on across the day from there. Our 1pm tee time ended up being 1:22.

1 par, 3 bogeys and 1 scratch on the 9 holes in windy but perfect conditions.

Wasn't the fault of us in the summer cup. I did the right thing and finished it on 14.

It was slow most of the day, right from the 1st groups.

Match play comps always seem to slow things down for the regular field. Unfortunate that you drew a couple of first timers and do you not pick up after 10 shots anyway even for handicap calculations?

Understandably so they should. Those events are programmed well in advance and any club member should be taking this into account when booking a time slot.

1st grouping of the Summer cup was meant to tee off at 10.30. Didn't get to tee off until closer to 10.45.

Below is 1 comment from a group chat on yesterday's slow play

"We hit off 10 minutes late. Don’t know why but we were ready on time. 4:36 minute round waiting on every tee. Group of two behind us who were on their second nine said their first nine was well under two hours. So something went wrong between 6:30 and 8:15."

Flaggy today

On the practice area and just had 0 feel with the gap wedge so it had to be the 56°....
Booking sheet fairly full so was always going to be on slow side which was OK. No rush.

Started off ok on front 9.
Hit a horrible gap wedge on the 4th that should have given me a birdie putt at worst.
Wiped the 7th. Tee shot found bunker, one jab no good so picked up.
We trailed a group of 4 ladies. Who were in carts and held their pace. They played through a group of 3. Who then told us the ladies had told them to keep up and they were playing through. We watched these 3 tee off on 9th and realised they were full of shit when one tee shot went 3m  and after that we saw duff after duff

Back 9 was fair.
Not sure why but my driver started hitting high pop shots. No idea where this come from....

Finished with 30pts

Flaggy

Forgot to add that the baffler got added yesterday. Had it set to 19°. Yesterday it had a solid draw/hook shape on it.

Today solid front 9 with 16pts. But the downer was the par 5th 8th. Sitting around 50m after 2 and hit a real poor wedge. Got to edge of green but then a horror 1st putt. What should have really been a look at birdie was a bogey.

Back 9 started off par par
Hit a solid enough drive on 12
Baffler comes out and absolutely chunked it disgustingly. Salvaged a point.
The wheels slowly fell off.
On 15 ended up against pile of branches/leaves. Clear out most sticks in the way and of course I hit the one I didn't see
Finished with 2 1pointers

Had 3 putts that just sat on the edge of the hole and a couple that run over the edge.

32pts and could have been so much better.
Importantly won the group comp $$$$ that's the real prestige (atleast for today)
