The talk of the $15 pint of beer

Eastern states with proper pints will push the $15 mark ...

Paid $19 for a 300ml Asahi in Melbourne recently.
The bar across the road from Marvel(Platform 28).
Thankfully it was a work trip and I wasn’t paying

Vividly remember dropping $100 USD on 4 x 600 mm cans of Corona at an NFL match

Really gives me the $hits when you have a $5 pair for a year with no problems
Spend $500 and they attract adverse incidents

Yep, I find if I dose up on aspirin at the initial onset I can control it fairly well.

Shocking stuff, had it for over a decade.
Got put on tablets that despite preventing it bring it on, god knows how that works.
I had to take tablets to stop it a well as the preventitive ones for 3 months.
Started working and hardly had it for 4 months but then last week got it in the knee and foot at the same time.
Had to have a day off work as I couldn't get a second sleep.
Drinking may have something to do with it though. ;)
Medication does seem to help though, stopping those crystals forming, also the missus has slow release anti inflammatories for her athritis that I occasionally steal for gout as they do a great job.

I rarely get it these days, and luckily only in my big toe.

A severe attack is painful as faark.

The doctor gave me medication for it based on some levels I had after having a service, I don’t know what it is though or what it feels like.

I do occasionally have sore parts if my feet and one toe gets painful, can you describe the pain you get?

I get it in a bunion on one foot, so the knuckle of my big toe.

It’s a very sharp pain through the middle of that joint rather than a dull ache. Walking is unbearable and even resting the foot on that side hurts. Believe me, you know when you have it.

Without preventative medication or treatment at early onset, the pain can last for days.

The worst was about 2 weeks the first time I got it. My wife told me I had gout, but I resisted going to see the doc. When I finally booked an appt, I was hobbling into his room and he said straight away without any further assessment, you’ve got gout. Because I left it so long it took a while for the medication to kick in.

In my case, early treatment stops a full onset, so I’ve learn’t to manage it these days. It’s caused by uric acid crystalising in a joint, so my doc advised to take aspirin whenever I start feeling it as it’s a blood thinner and helps. Some people can’t take aspirin as it can cause bleeding issues elsewhere, but for me it’s fine.
