Poor old Raymond got demoted from Divvy I last year and his introduction to Div II action was not a warm welcome as GETOUTOFMYWAY said exactly that with the best score in the Hogg for the first round. The Cobras struck in the first round as they smashed Some Cant who is usually a strong contender but he might have missed the starting gun with the earlier start to the comp this year. Failed Creation stunk up the place but got a win as SteveFromGuidance surely needed some with his lame first up effort. In the GAGF stakes, Professor Crow and Pigs Arsenal lost by bugger all in what both coaches are hoping is not a portent for the future.

Despite scoring excellent marks, it was back to school for Professor Crow as they copped a monster score from the current number one team in the Hogg, GETOUTOFMYWAY. They are saying that to all comers at the moment, top of everything and the Prof was dead stiff to get done after getting a pretty decent score himself. The current ladder certainly doesn’t do him any favours at all. Yo Yo team Magpie Mafia are on the upswing this year and along with Marty McFly, are the biggest challenge to GETOUT at this early stage of the season. Underbelly and Power Rules were two teams who opened their account with good scores with harryshawks another unlucky loser after they scored well. Amongst the stragglers Adelaide have nothing to crow about while pre-season fancy SteveFromGuidance certainly needs some as they haven’t shown up yet this year.

There was something of a revolution in Hogg Division II as four winless sides managed to open their account during the low scoring Easter Round. Adelaide Crows had been living up to their name to start the season but they proved they were much better than the real thing by pantsing harryshawks by 140 points to get off the bottom of the ladder. SteveFromGuidance won a close tussle against the only remaining winless side in Duromine Dependent and Professor Crow taught the Ugly Ducklings a lesson in SuperCoach. Pigs Arsenal got off theirs to record a sneaky 9 point win against the Carnts in the closest match of the round. Meanwhile, Hogg number one GETOUTOFMYWAY racked up another win even if his scoring was down a little this week. Dave’s scoring was matched by his main competitors The Dukes and Cobras who both recorded solid victories. With quite a few battlers getting wins a few top sides were due to drop and those teams included Marty McFlys, Magpie Mafia and Cossi’s Carnts.

GETOUTOFMYWAY continued with their fine start to the season when they put away a strong challenge from the Cobras in Round 5 of Division II action. The Dukes remained hot on their heels with a comfortable win over Marty who are now suddenly in freefall. Adelaide Crows, Some Cant, Smashers FC, and Duromine Dependent all got desperately needed wins but the star of the show this week was the mighty Pigs Arsenal who spifflicated a suspect Failed Creation by over 400 points. Creation are somehow still in the eight despite the massive loss.

Division II had a smashing round in week six with plenty of teams topping the 2000 mark in a round where 1900 was a pretty decent score. The last placed team on the ladder showed the way when Duromine Dependent went mental to rack up a massive 2107 to smash a luckless Cossi’s Carnts combination who took a massive hit to their points against number on the premiership table. With seven sides topping two grand it is almost easier to list the ones who didn’t go large. Key matches were the Ugly Ducklings scrambled into the top eight after defeating GETOUTOFMYWAY in a high quality contest and Some Cant and Adelaide Crows who racked up high scoring wins against teams above them on the ladder. Three sides have broken away from the rest but there is only one win between fourth and seventeenth which makes Divvy II the tightest league in the Hogg shield this year.
