Is it top 4 in Division 1, and top 3 in Division 2?

Yes I think it so

Top in D2 goes straight up and 2 vs 3 play off to go up is how I understand it
Now I assume top and the winner of 2vs3 play in a grand final?

I still think 5 Divs of 8 teams would work ok. Have a trophy for 2-day, 1-day and T20 comps for all Divisions and a table with weighting for each comp that determines promotion/relegation. Each club has 3 teams and make it so each club can only have one team in a division.

In Div 1 - instead of the 2-day comp, make it a 3-day comp (Sat/Sat/Sun), no Semi-Final, the Final contested over 4 days Sat/Sun/Sat/Sun.

Run the T20 comp (7 Rounds + SF/Final) on Tues nights in Nov & Dec with the Semi-Finals/Final on the Sunday before Xmas.

Run the one day comp (7 Rounds + SF/Final) on Saturdays with the Semi Final/Final on the Sat/Sun of the Aus Day weekend.

For Div 1, that would be 7 Sundays of regular cricket plus if you make Finals of each grade, potentially another 4 Sundays. For the other Divisions, you'd only play Sunday if you made Finals.

This season in Div 1, there have been 4 Sundays scheduled for the 2-day regular season (plus 2 more in Finals), 2 T20 games (plus 3 Finals) and 1 1-day game (plus 3 finals).

More chances of playing Finals. More premierships, which bond players together and to their club. T20 development throughout the pathway instead of just 1st Grade. For Div 1 - 3 Day cricket playing 2 innings, which gives more opportunities.

Most clubs can struggle to get anyone available to play Tuesday nights.
7 of them will be a killer.

Agree with this.

Looks like new Junior system coming in next year:

Under 13
Under 14
Under 15.5

So only three teams instead of four.

Plus an Under 17 comp on Sundays (not sure like this, clash with ATCA Under 17"s etc??)

4th Grade to be optional, so expect maybe 8 clubs to have one potentially. This is great idea.

Under 17s on Sunday will crucify community cricket and ATCA comp.

Agree it will crucify Sunday community cricket, however it is the only way you can get the best junior cricketers playing against each other, each week until someone sorts out college cricket

If theyre not playing senior cricket at that age theyre missing out on development. They get more out of playing senior guys than their peers. U16 is plenty old enough as the last grade before moving into seniors. The real good players shouldnt even play at this level.

They are playing community cricket on a Sunday now, aren’t they better off playing in a premier competition? Surely that would be better for their development.

Majority of kids play PC juniors Sat and ATCA Sun, plus those kids that have to play for school on Sat morning and they are playing 3 games over 2 days, at least at school everyone gets a turn so they are only bowling 2-3 overs and retire after a few overs. 16 and under kids generally play 2 games a weekend

SACA already run an under 16 comp made up of mainly ATCA teams on a Sunday. A lot of these players play PC on the Saturday. Wouldn't this be the comp most affected if SACA field an under 17 comp next season on the Sunday and not the ATCA comp.

Stumps on day 1.

Minus some miracles, Woodville & East Torrens look set to go down to West Torrens & Port Adelaide respectively. The likely losers of these matches set to be relegated and WT to host Port in a Semi Final next weekend.

Kensington will have to pull something out of the hat against Glenelg. They won’t. Finals missed, but relegation avoided.

The interesting match is University vs Tea Tree Gully. Uni (3rd) vs TTG (7th). TTG are already 20 runs ahead on 1st innings with 9 wickets in hand. An outright tomorrow and they replace Uni in the top 4. Any other result sees Uni stay in.

Just see the posts re SACA at new age groups. Another nail in community cricket unless saca have one division. No need for reds and whites. Have on team per age group use a squad and make it for the best cricketers in the state.

The changes re juniors make sense. If Grade clubs don’t take up the opportunity to have a 4th Grade, then technically an extra 11 players are available to play community cricket. If community cricket needs the older underage group, then perhaps change to U18 instead of U17 to capture those players that won’t make the grade immediately. For the benefit of cricket in this state, you also want the best players playing each other as much as possible and moving to a Sunday caters for that, with 1st XI entrenched on a Saturday afternoon.
