Unlike Chris Scott to have a whinge…

Yeah he was in a whingey mood but was interesting none the less.

Absolutely stupid idea having round 0.

What did it actually accomplish?

I suspect the idea was to prevent the NRL, which started this weekend, from getting the 'jump' on the AFL.

Staggering rounds is also probably good for TV ratings - e.g. more Friday night footy etc.

Why on earth they thought it was a good idea to call it anything other than Round 1 I have no idea.

The real question is which country will Round 0/1 be played in 2025?

To continue the lunacy theme, after the Carlton v Richmond match this Thursday, then the Collingwood v Sydney match on Friday, 4 sides would have played 2 matches and 10 clubs have yet to start their season.

Great chance for us to be 8 points ahead of the rest of the competition after 6 days worth of footy.

I think it's also having an eye on the future. When the Tassie team comes in, I wouldn't be surprised if Round 0/1 is already a permanent fixture so no team is having the first bye singularly. But I also suspect 2 byes will be in by then as well - this season the 8 teams of Round 0 all have 2 byes. It is a bit weird in that Brisbane, Sydney and GWS all have 2 byes before most other clubs even have their first, just means a long run home for them.

That was the bit I didn't grasp, make it a split round or do whatever, just give the round a number, "Carlton beat Brisbane in round nothing".

But the NRL got the jump anyway by going to Vegas lol. The best way to put League in it's place is to let people actually watch a round or two of it. By then you are gagging for footy.

More money into the SMA coffers and then more money to the SANFL can only be a good thing!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
