What happened to Greenshields
Heard today he quit, must be struggling for numbers if A grade coach leaves this late. Unless its a time commitment issue

Both A/B Grade coaches gone, but if the rumors are to be believed it's player commitment issues being the straw that have broken the camels back.

Unfortunately it's been a slow bleed since end of '21.

We lost significantly more players this off season/pre season, add that to getting 10~ blokes at training.

Elizabeth won’t be playing senior football this season, majority have known that for a good 6 weeks but they’ve tried to do everything in their power to stay alive! Unfortunately drawing Eastern Park round 1 just tipped them over the edge..

Very good chance a team in division 5 pulls the pin over the next couple of weeks to! Expect a shake up from divisions 4-7 before round 1 as teams chasing an early relegation to ease some pressure

You must be very excited by that prospect.. after all.. 8)

Sad to see a proud club not get a senior side....

Sadly it reconfirms there simply is too many teams in the northern burbs. Could be wrong but it feels there is always one of the clubs who just cant fill a side. Was Smithfield, now Elizabeth. EP appeared to really struggle with the b grade last year, that wont be a problem this year.

Totally agree with you there
Too many clubs within a demographic in the northern suburbs
All fighting over the same players

Time to see clubs merge but know too many would rather die than merge

No, sadly it just reaffirms that the merry go round of players are to the detriment of the clubs. They pick and choose where they play, when they play based on how that side is looking. When the going is good, they're all keen, when it looks like there is work to be done they drive 5min down the road to the next hot club.

Wasn't long ago Smithfield went from D7 to D4 and were flying... Elizabeth won the flag onto 3 years ago from memory.. Eastern Park almost made the D5 Grand Final a few years back. Brahma Lodge won a stack of flags in D7 and last year could barely field a one team, now they're all back.

Every club has a core group of committed players and hard working volunteers - but are let down by players who choose to take the easy path on the hunt for premiership success.

Using too many clubs is a cop out and shit excuse - don't hear clubs south of the CBD saying the same - Mitchell Park, Kenilworth, Flinders Uni, Marion, SHOC would all be within a stones throw of each other.. or to the West - Portland, Pt Districts, Henley, Seaton, Rosewater, North Haven etc.

Eastern Park recruited all their good players? :P

I actually have no idea - they lost a few last year and obviously got relegated, and have heard they have lost more this year to Gumeracha? Have dropped their C grade this season as well.

No chop in the Gumeracha movement, just a bunch of C graders.
Problem with Elizabeth is systemic and has been coming for years, mismanagement from the top, no respect for the playing group and no help for the coaching group.
Club held ransome by a c grade nobody major sponsor who pledged to change the world but got to hard and bailed plus a massive **** you from a long serving family at the last AGM.
Sad and shameful so why would you stay as a player, Greenshields did all he could with what he had and the last few A graders leaving was the last straw.

Not wrong but I will say having BL&G plus plains leagues right next door to the far Northern amateur teams adds a bit of difficulty too, problem is everyone thinks they are worth coin and some desperate teams are willing to pay it. Maybe time to merge a couple of teams...
