What has happened to East torrens?

Relegated from 1st Grade D1 and there 2nd grade finished dead last with no wins. Not sure how many of their players will stick around Cramner and Robins will probalbly retire and what about Barratt looks silly moved to play division 1 and now hes back where he would have been probably should have stayed with Southern and tried to get them up.

Also - have heard unconfirmed report that there is another issue with a player in one of their lower grades who has been done for racist abuse. They had some players cop lengthy suspensions last year for the same issue.

Wonder if Barrett has a "get out" clause in his contract that he will only play Div 1?

I presumed state players wouldn’t have been available for this weekend, but with the early win to the Redbacks, will we see full strength teams this weekend?

Can Glenelg select their test player?
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

They could. When was the last time Carey played Grade cricket? Can remember Head playing some games last year, but don’t recall Carey playing. Which is understandable having been the keeper in 3 formats for Australia for much of the last few years.

Think Redbacks players will play, does not affect Port (Carder already playing) and Uni (have nobody, but will get Thomas Brown back from Under 19 team).

West Torrens should have Buckingham and Neilson back, but Spencer be heading to India.

Glenelg be interesting as could have McInerney, McSweeney and Doggett back. Doubt Carey would play as he would feel awful pushing Damon Kerr out having not played for three years.

Going to be some really stiff players at the Bay miss out who have played all year. Same thing happened in 20/20 GF and seemed to really unsettle them. Couple of regulars will have to miss out.

From a WT point of view - having Buckingham and Nielsen back is a big plus, especially without Capel and Drew. WT have had good contributors right through the XI though and a good crop of young quicks coming through on the tail of Johnson and Buckingham. Port are a very strong and experienced side. It should be a high quality match. I feel Port would be pretty disappointed if they didn't make a Final this year with the squad they have, whereas WT already have two trophies in the cabinet and are riding a wave of confidence and winning form since Christmas, despite some blows to personnel along the way. A bit of pressure on Port to perform.

Glenelg have been the most consistent side all year and in some ways this is the toughest game of the lot. University have been very ordinary recently and on paper, Glenelg should do it easily, but cricket is a funny game.

Glenelg, 6 1st Grade Premierships and last won 2012/13
West Torrens, 16 1st Grade Premierships and last won 2021/22
Port Adelaide, 5 1st Grade Premierships and last won 2013/14
University, 5 1st Grade Premierships and last won 2020/21

A low and slow pitch at Henley and a slow outfield made batting difficult. Add the experience and skill of Benton, Valente and Andrews. Port sent Torrens in and had the Eagles on the back foot from the start. Smith batted patiently and 2/60 at lunch with Smith and Drew at the crease was not a bad position for the Eagles. A good ball from Benton got Smith caught behind for 29 not long after lunch. The Port bowlers looked dangerous throughout the Drew/Manenti partnership, but with a bit of luck, the score pushed to 3/120 and Manenti started finding the boundary and looking good, before chasing a wide and short one which he nicked through to the keeper. Drew also had started pushing Andrews through gaps and looked comfortable before nicking a short quick one from Andrews the ball after he brought up his 50. From there, Valente cleaned up the lower order, Torrens losing the last 7 wickets for 40 runs and the last 4 for 12.

Port lost 3 late wickets last night to be 3/63 at stumps. 100 needed with 7 wickets in hand. An early wicket had them 4/70 with Andrews joining Conway and Valente still to come. Conway and Andrews able to score freely enough to get close to the target. Andrew’s fell with Port 20 short and Buckingham picked up his 4th when Conway fell lbw a few runs later. Fallins had a very close shout for lbw off Valente with about 12 runs still to get, but the umpire gave it not out and that was really the last hope the Eagles had to keep their season alive. 162 was probably 50 runs short. Port too good and should meet Glenelg next week. Uni currently 4/95 chasing Glenelg’s 397. These three teams are pretty clearly the best 3 teams this season and it should be a good quality contest next week. An excellent season for West Torrens, picking up the white ball premierships.

Adelaide look set to join Sturt next week in the Div 2 Grand Final, and in Div 1 next season, bowling Northerns out for 116 and passing their score 5 down and being 5/135 overnight. Looks like play is close to starting on day 2 after a rain delay, Northerns would need a miracle.

It's a 3 year trial, it's not going anywhere. Not unless clubs drop off or merge

Heard the rumour re Manenti coming to WT to play with his brother, mainly because Adelaide were not going to be paying the $9k again, but this was also before they unexpectedly went up to Div1.

Had not heard where JFM was going, but ended up not playing one game for Kensy this season.
