No matter what the club but surely these long contracts must be a worry. The Brayshaw retirement with 5 years left as an example leaves a massive burden on a club.

Brayshaw is an exception as he's been medically retired. The AFL, Melbourne and Brayshaw's management are brokering a deal to have some monies paid to him and I've read some will be on the cap, some will not be but it's unlikely it would be the full contract payments and you can imagine they'd create an off field role for him anyway.
Long contracts are now more the rule than the exception.
Mind you the likes of Sheezel, Soligo, Rachele and Daicos who, in their
second year, signed deals taking them into free agency does seem a little risky.
