Have to laugh at people questioning Longmire. The bloke is in his 14th year, has a 194-3-108 record and is 14-14 in finals and 1 flag in 5 GF's.

It's well documented on here I think he's as boring as it gets but questioning his record and his ability to take this side forward? You'd have to be an idiot. You'd be ignoring how incredibly difficult it is to make finals. To win finals. To get to the Grand Final. Mad.

Amazing performance by Chris Fagan, after having his character questioned, losing last year’s GF and a poor start to this year, should be very proud of what he and his team have achieved.

Where to now for the Swans? 4 GF loses in a row, including an 81 point thumping 2 years ago by Geelong, and the 10 goal demolition by Brisbane today. Perhaps it wasn’t inconceivable what happened today considered the Swans’ crazy up and down and then up season.

Not sure how they go forward from here.

Throw in ACLS to 3 of his best 22. Bloody amazing effort.

Not 4? McCarthy, Gardiner, Coleman, Doedee?

Though on yesterday's effort hard to see who they would kick out. Payne and Hipwood, whilst not getting a lot of the ball, really help the other players play around them.
Happy for Lester, really unsung, and thought he was really important when the game was still in the balance.

Forgot about Doedee because i haven't seen him play for years no offense Tom.
But yeah Lomman has McCarthy's spot covered.
Coleman is definitely in their best 22 and Gardiner close as well.

Yeah, fair call, Lohmann has gone ahead of McCarthy now.

Can’t specifically respond that whatever Barrett may or may not have reported as I haven’t seen or heard the comments, but on the face of it, it’s not unreasonable to question where to now for Sydney, reviewing the club from top to bottom and back up again.

Naturally the coach would be part of that review.

Sydney had one of the strangest years for a minor premier, blitzing the field early to then fall into a gaping hole, only to recover at the end of minor round before playing 2 good finals and then comprehensively imploding again.

Blight did great things with Geelong but still lost 3 GFs, and was cooked after only 6 years, so who knows with horse.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

I'm with dedja. The stats quoted by Booney are probably the minimum you'd expect from a 14-season coach.

List is as good as anyone's, clearly when on their game they're a strong premiership contender (i.e. they were minor premier), but a bit of a pattern emerging in grand finals.

I think if Sydney are a remotely professional organisation, they review every facet of what went wrong on Saturday, and obviously the coach would be a part of that.

In terms of his ability to take his side forward, well, I don't think you'd have to be an idiot to question that, at all. How many coaches get better after 14 seasons?

None of the Sydney players have been at the club since before Longmire was coach. Plenty of reasons to see how a fresh voice would be just what the doctor ordered.

The problem may not be Horse - again, if the Swans are serious, they'll analyse everything about Saturday deeply - but gee, after four GF losses in a row I would've thought there's a reasonable discussion to be had about whether it might be the right time for a change.

Realistically they shouldn't have made the 2022 GF, they were still in a rebuild and just happened to be ahead of where they probably should've been, their window is still well and truly open.

They would be a very frustrating side to follow, their best is pretty much unstoppable but their forward line is far too inconsistent. They have the cattle, just having everyone up and running on the same day is the key.

I think they're closer to a flag than about 16 other clubs.

This is hardly a surprising take from the happy clapper who's club thinks Prelims are a pass mark from a 12 yr coach.
How many GF losses is an acceptable amount before the club goes in a different direction?
If Hinkley is on borrowed time after 4 prelim losses then Longmire has to be in a similar position after 4 GF losses, the premiership was 12 years ago now. Perhaps he's too safe, it wins minor round games but doesnt win GF's. They were hot favorites in 3 of the losses

You have to question him. Doesn't get his team up for the big matches. It's his team, he's selected half fit forwards twice and come up with **** all each time. What has he done in regards to turning the Swans into a team that wins more clearances? In the last two grannies the premiers waltzed it out of the middle, bullied them. They saw they needed an inside guy so they recruited Adams and they have Sheldrick also. No point making the Granny if you are going to get pantsed every time, I'm a Cat fan I know. This Swans unit chokes even more than Geelong did. We only won one minor premiership during the Blight/Ayres era and weren't getting rolled by ten goals by teams who didn't even make the top four. It's an appalling record and a change in the box is what is needed. How could Swans fans go in with any confidence with Horse in the box next September. They even had a non Vic team to play as well.

regards,

REB

While clubs like St Kilda, Essendon, Gold Coast, Fremantle and Carlton wander around in the wilderness we don't give clubs enough recognition for fronting up year after year in a system designed to prevent that happening.

Carry on though.
