Only trouble is that most places will still stink to high hell of smoke for quite a few weeks with it getting into the carpet, etc etc over the years but definately wont be as bad as smoke billowing around the room

I think I might go to wateringhole at 12:01am tomorrow for a couple of drinks to celebrate this victory for non-smokers!

Should be good!
Yeah the carpets might smell a bit but not having the smoke in the air is the main culprit.

You don't get smoke in your clothes from the carpet.

Someone i know has just come back from the UK where the smoking ban has been in place for while now.
He says one of the biggest noticeable change is the 'new' odours that were evident, without the presence of cigarette smoke. Peoples BO tends to stand out, and he said a mate of his would regulary 'clear the bar' with an expulsion of pungent gas !!!

Reckon the pubs may do it rough for the first couple of months until people get used to the new changes. We did a head count at the Hammy on Saturday arvo for the Cox Plate meet & around 65 - 70% of the patrons were smokers.
Derby day will be interesting, usually packed to the rafters.

I know what its like from having worked on the front counter of Social Security in the late 80s and early 90s, much worse than smoke, trust me.
Nothing worse than BO especially a stale sort. :?

I've heard pubs and clubs worried about the BO etc. overseas are starting to feed deodorants into air-conditioning systems, filling the air with as, or even more, dangerous petrochemical derived artificial scents.

Funny thing about it is within 24 hours of the law being enforced it started pissing down!
So all the poor sods had to stand out in the rain trying to have a cig!

Just got back from Thailand where people smoke in restaurants etc and it stinks and makes ya wanna chuck (that's if the dodgy curry doesn't get you first).
As a reformed smoker, I am glad I kicked it, and wonder why the hell I ever did it...
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

They smoke everywhere over there don't they. Almost everyone smokes as well. I guess in Australia such an effort has been made to educate about the dangers and the fact that laws have changed so significantly over the years that in Thailand it really stands out. When i was over there i was half expecting to get back to my hotel room and find a lit cigarette being used as incense
