On Thursday night all punters at my local seemed to find it odd, regardless of whether they were smokers or not ... Think it's a great move and despite enjoying the sticks, I for one welcome it.

Was staggered by the number of non-smokers though gravitating out to the beer gardens because that was where most of the action was at.

Yeah good point, I guess those it doesnt affect so much will still hang around the smokers, what I have found interesting speaking with a few staff from pubs is that they (the workers) all basically smoke. quite strange seeing that it was bought in for their benefit as well

Gotta be good for helping regular pub-goers who smoke, give it up and also perhaps for helping some of the younger ones stay away from the dreaded things in the first place ... Here's hoping anyway.

yeah know where you are coming from, I gave up about half way during footy season cause I love my time at the pub, and knew I wouldn't be able to go there and have a gaffer in summer only stupid thing out of the whole thing is that I haven't been to the pub or had an alcoholic drink since grand final night.

Has probably been useful though in helping you stay off them? Did you just go cold turkey, or did you use patches, medication, gum etc?

Just patches mate and only went through about 6 weeks of them, tried a couple of days off of patches after that and no real dramas, was quite shocked that I didnt freak out, after all basically smoked for 30 years and close to two packs a day in the end but have got through, funny thing is though dont really feel any different

After spending the best part of 12 hours in a bar with a beer in hand yesterday it was refreshing to wake up this morning with a hangover and not smell like a cigarette packet.
