If they’re legit and we don’t like that they’re legit, then that’s a valid whinge, but they haven’t done anything ‘wrong’. The pu…, ummm, well, that ‘other’ test is meaningless, just a way to highlight a grievance.

Speaking of, Festivus is nearly upon us.

Everytime I work interstate Im entitled to claim up to $100 per day for food/drink etc, One time I claimed over $50, the rest of the time it is less than $50.

Even though there is an "entitlement" there is still an expectation that common sense use applies and can be scrutinised. If i went out and spent $99 every day I would rightfully questioned.

Wouldn't have thought. Not so much for breakfast, but i will attempt to spend every cent of my meal allowance.
I don't get living away from home allowance. So i will max out every time

I'm not sure if I have a limit or not, I just don't take the piss, and I've never been questioned across a few employers now.

If I'm with someone more senior and they want to take the piss, I will be one step behind, encouraging the behavior all the way!

If you view it as an entitlement you'll treat it as such and you'll take it because you think you're entitled too it. If you treat it as a perk you'll appreciate it's of benefit too you but you won't, as perfectly put above, take the piss.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Use the same allowances as regular staff.

Not sure on federal public sector workers but State Government get $40 for dinner per night if away from home and accommodation for $150 per night.

Whilst there’s some heat on MPs expenses, I’m amazed that their working away from home allowance that funds Canberra real estate that they buy, then rent on taxpayer’s expense therefore gifting themselves properties doesn’t get the airtime it deserves.

Again, all perfectly legal but this one does stink.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.
