Agree both Sturt & Norwood should be equal odds on favourites to play in the GF
Not often where the two teams that open the season also play in the last game of the season

I suspect that it has happened more times over history than would be expected by pure random chance, thanks to deliberate programming of better-performed teams in the early rounds.

Without looking, 2015 and 2016 are two such instances

Complete list is:
1903
1909
1910
1921
1931
1933
1939
1944
1959
1975
1977
1981
1982
2007
2014
2015
2016
2023
A mention for 1996 as well; Port had the bye in Round 1, then played Central in Round 2, who played in Round 1.

So how the hell did we get to the point where the AFL will have already played one game in effectively round 4 before a back hander is swiped in anger in the SANFL?
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Personally I'm fine with the SANFL starting when it does. Starts to actually feel like footy season come the end of March into April.

If the AFL wishes to keep creeping towards summer and cricket season, so be it..

NORTH ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB STATEMENT

The North Adelaide Football Club supports former player Leigh Ryswyk who has come out publicly as the first openly gay past or present AFL/SANFL player.

Leigh played 226 games for the club, is a North Adelaide Football Club Life Member and SANFL Life Member, and was a key contributor to our 2018 Reserves Premiership, overcoming broken ribs suffered late in the home and away season.

As a football club, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment where players, staff, members and supporters from all communities feel safe, respected, and free to be themselves.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I’m more concerned about the lack of vowels rather than his private life. There will come a day when this isn’t news, and that can’t come soon enough.

Heard from a senior SANFL player they are getting extremely frustrated with the SANFL hierarchy re their claims for increase in salary cap to match the exodus of players getting ridiculous money in other Leagues.

Got to the stage of potential strike action, so don’t be surprised if all players this round take a stand and sit on the ground for 30 seconds at the start of each match
